my books on knife making have not yet arrived, so i decided to try and wing it!

better than my first! awesome job, cant wait to see what you come up with when you get some more tools and knowledge!

I like!
Good design, look like a tactical
I think, need more point
And a false edge

what material are you using?

Best regards

Good job in overall execution!
however your handle looks, well... jacked up , what's going on with that? Round out that bottom flat part and I think it'll work. :D

I agree with Jason. Consider something like this possibly, crude MS Paint attempt but you get the idea :)

Trace it on a piece of cardboard, cut it out and see how it feels.

i like the bottom of the handle man, when you say the bottom, do you mean the bottom where the finger grips are or the bottom where say a pommel could go on a different knife? as far as the material i got it from a fab shop, im not to sure what it it, i have a piece of 1095 coming in the mail, and i intend to use the same pattern on the handle, but make some changes to the blade, and some improvements, ie a false edge, and a different blade style, the reason i went with this style blade is on the cheapy knife tutorial, it said on your first to keep it short. im going to put some 1/8 pins and leave the bottom 1/4 hole open and put some paracord or something, again theres only so much you can do when to put a couple of screws throgh the big holes and have to hand file your blade angles. Thank you guys for your honest critisisms and your encourageing comments, ill put more pics up when the handle is attached!:D

i see from the diagram, no im not removing that part because it was left there for ergonomics, and it feels really good in my hand, i think with the g-10 handles it will have a modern tactical look, i was also thinking of incorporating this type of handle into some kitchen knives because it feels good in the hand

Absolutley do what you want, No offense was intended, however do youself a favor, flip the arc over in fletch's pic then grind out a paint stir stick to match it and see if that dont feel much better. see a squared handle is "hot" in the hand. it will rub it and cause blisters with extended use.

Kinda make them look like this, and see if that wont feel better.

again good job on your first, wish mine looked like that!

Jason

ok ok i got ya,i follow ya on the hot in the hand concept, i think with the arc flipped over that could be pretty comfy, i will deffinately give it a try on a paint stick and see what it leads to
