So same thread as before but I upped my spending limit to $65. Same criteria as the other thread.

So I am look for a general purpose knife. Not necessarily a EDC, but one for camping and tasks around the house. My budget is $65. The knives I was looking at were the:
Kershaw Skyline
Kershaw OD-2
Kershaw Clash

I will also accept any other recommendations you guys have, and I want to know also between these 3 which is the best all around knife for what I need it to do.
Thanks

One Nice one is the cold steel recon 1 partially serrated, clip or spear point.

If you would be able to save $10-$15 more you could get the Spyderco Endura 4. But of those Kershaws, all great knives, I would say get the Skyline. It's steel holds a better edge that the 8cr13mov on the other 2. Or you could get the other 2 for the same price as the Skyline. They're all three good knives.

I would go with skyline. It was one of the first folders I have bought and still is one of my favorites. I wish it would come in a better steel and in FFG but then it would cost more than 30$.

For $65 you could get an Endura and have change left over. Not saying that's what you should do, just saying you won't have to stretch your budget for it. You could also get a second hand Manix 2 or a new one if you spent an extra 10 bucks or so. Anything from Kershaw or Spyderco in your price range will be nice though.

I'd highly recommend the SOG Flash II. I had one for years before I got my Al Mar Sere and my Spyderco Military. It's a great knife. If you happen upon $40, try out the Spyderco Para-Military 2. Great steel, lightweight, and it's a great slicer. If I were to choose from the three you listed though, it'd be the Skyline hands down.

When you say for use while camping, what tasks are you thinking about? I'd usually go with a fixed-blade for camping tasks, and a folder for a lot of "around the house" stuff.

I like Kershaw, but never could get used to the Skyline. A lot of people love it, but I actually like my Leek and Blur a lot more.

My recommendation would be an ESEE Izula II as a great EDC and camping tool. If you need a folder, the Buck Vantage recommendation from above is excellent. Also, a Spyderco Tenacious (good budget folder) or Delica 4 are good options.

Best knife for "for camping and tasks around the house", quit foooling and get an SAK with the features you desire. I use a Wenger Handyman.
At $65 you can easily afford a decent multitool, Gerber or Leatherman.
$65 opens a world of options.
The Rat-1 already mentioned is perhaps the strongest inexpensive offering mentioned, but it is large.
If you want to try Benchmade's Axis-lock, the 527 Mini-Presidio Ultra can be found that cheap.
There are a number of Spyderco options there, Endura and Delica among them.
Boker Plus Exskelibur I or II are there, among others.
KaBar, Cold Steel, Gerber ...
Buck Vantage Pro gives perhaps the best quality materials in that price range and a flipper to boot.
Of the Kershaw flippers, that OD-2 is very small if that is what you actually want, but the Kershaw NRG 1740 or 1745 is my recommendation
Kershaw Skyline :thumbdn:, had one and took it back, money better spent elsewhere imho. To each their own *shrug*

I'd second the multitool and SAK suggestion for what you are looking for. Take a look at the Victorinox One-Handed Trekker / Trailmaster. My favorite multitool is the Juice S2.

Out Of Those Mentioned: Kershaw Skyline

My Recommendations:
Kershaw JYD II - You Can Get The Composite Blade Blem For $55 From Kershaw Guy.
Cold Steel Recon 1
Cold Steel American Lawman
Spyderco Persistence
Spyderco Tenacious
Spyderco Resilience - Huge But It's A Beast.
Spyderco Delica 4
Spyderco Endura 4
Spyderco UKPK - I Love It.

Any Byrd Knife - Great For The Money.

Etc.

id say get the skyline but all those knives are great for the money. also as far as good steel and really strong folder for camping cold steel makes a lot for great knives that aren't badly priced. But id take a look at the Ontario rat 1 it rocks
