My first kydex sheath (pic heavy - long post)

Hello all,

I now have a genuine "Ligerskin" gun belt from maxpedition. Very nice belt and it has made a difference, not huge but it is there. The tek-lok was adjusted for a nice snug fit when mounted on the belt. The belt does tend to lean/drop a little on the left hip from the weight.

I've been doing standing jumps on to the top of my bed (about 2') and back off repeatedly and while the sheath does obviously move, the knife tends to move with the body and doesn't slap around at all or interfere with the body. When running there is a bit of side to side sway. Walking and hiking with it should be just fine as is and having the knife up high keeps it more out of the way of brush.

The CGFBM was bought to be a camp/bush tool and in case of bears. The knife draws incredibly fast. After about a second or so of having your hand on the handle the knife is drawn and the business end will be straight out in front of you. Really easy to do an upwards/diagnal slash on the draw followed by a quick snap chop too! I dare a bear to come at me!!!:p
The slowest part is pulling the pin. Easy to fumble at times and I may have to fashion a better pullchord. Also might adjust the thumb ramb back a small amount and put some grip tape on it.

Ideally I would love to try to patent this idea but realistically I would never make any money at it unless I made it a full on business, which I have no plans to do. The ideas probably been done before anyways, I just never googled it yet LOL.

Unfortunately, I didn't have access to a few tools and a proper workshop facility so this was a lot more labor (20+ hrs) than it should have been.
I was following my muse for personal satisfaction more than anything and don't really want to put the time and effort into making sheaths for others. Sorry!

If anyone wants to try something like this for themselves or get it custom from somebody else you have my full blessings. Let me know how it works out! I personally think that this system would be absolutely killer for knives in the 10" to 14" range. A couple inches less of knife length would bring the center of gravity in closer and help stability.

Thanks again for all the comments

A CONCEALABLE FBM!?!

Not that I care for a knife this large but it can almost be concealed in my leather jacket. If I was just standing and not moving you would have to look very closely to tell. If I changed it to a straight up and down configuration it would probably work although the tip of the sheath would probably be right in your armpit.
