I just received my first Mora today, a Carbon Clipper, and an Arkansas pocket stone for field sharpening. The Mora feels great in my hand and you can’t beat the price (I finally know what you guys are talking about). Anyone else use a natural stone for sharpening in the field? If so, do you use honing oil or not?

p.s. - I already got 2 more clippers coming my way (a carbon and a stainless)

Well you're in deep trouble now my friend. The Mora floodgate is now open, and it's kinda like crack.

I just use saliva on my flat stones. Easier to clean, and doesn't clog the pores.

Another one bites the dust:D. You are now hooked. I love the Carbon clipper. Its about my favorite Mora. I also have one in Stainless. Great knives. I never use a stone as I only use the EdgeMaker . Its quick and easy and takes off little or no steel. Use the Mora all day then pull it about six times through the edgemaker and its ready for the next session.

Nah, I got it under control. As least I think I do. Do I? Sure I do:confused:

Using saliva on your stones; never heard of that, learn something new every day. Sure beats buying oil. Thanks!

When I first got my Clippers I did run the blades on my Norton India to make sure everything was true, and now all I do is use my soft Arkansas & a strop loaded with #6 green compound. If I am really working the knife hard I may oil up and go, but 99% of the time just 5-10 passes dry does just fine, followed by 5-10 pulls on my strop, and the hair on my arm just faints at the sight of it.

Yes, my Grandfather taught me that a long time ago. Don't have to carry any additional gear with you. Self producing.;)
