My daughter got the old scanner to work, so I scanned some knives and will try posting from a remote server.

All the knives at the top are Schrades, The one at the top left is an SP3 to which I added a lanyard and a brass thumbstud.

At the bottom left there are two Imperial Ireland with shell type handles.

At the right below the Schrades there is a Boker automatic, below it, the only Case I own, a three dot 6165L, at the very bottom there is a #7 Opinel with lanyard and carved handle.

Thanks, Don Luis! I hope now we will see more of your Lanyard work. I just cannot feature owning a knife with a lanyard hole in it and not having something in it. In my case, it's usually a thong of leather or para cord done in a neat hangman's noose type loop. Something I can cinch up around my wrist when actually using it.

Gracias for posting!

Phil

Well done welcome aboard and thankyou for the pics and the effort involved. LT

I almost forgot can you do a real fancy hat band for me to wear on my derby which is my trademark when I play tournament poker. I would swap for a Schrade knife if I have one around. LT

Nice pieces, Don Luis....

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the responses, I´ll have some free time after wednesday and will try to post more pics, perhaps some knives, fobs and a cat o´ nine tails or whatever.

I did the carving on the Opinel.

LT, I´ve never tried a hat band but should be able to do something nice since I also do braiding, perhaps a three color, six strand, chevron flat braid with fancy knots at regular intervals and tassels on the ends, or tell me if you have something particular in mind, let me think about it and find some adequate material. Don´t worry about a swap, getting a knife through Mexican customs is too much of a hassle.

I do not believe I could improve of your description as fancy as possible is all I could add. If there is a way I will get you the knife. Something in real stag ( if memory serves ). I will look around I must have a knife around here. Thankyou LT

Another scan, crowded but I even managed to get in a couple of little Schrade folders for forum content.

Fobs and a cat o´ nine tails made with similar knots.

Other folders are SOG, Boker (stag handles) and Opinel.

Fix blades are Buck and Puma (stag handles).

Except for the Schrades all knives have lanyards tied with hand braided cord.

Hmmm... Would I play high stakes poker with our LT? NOT! Just a feeling I have that he is pretty good at it. The hat band sounds good! We'll of course wanna see a pic.

Don Luis! I've sent knives all over the world. Once you're done with our LT's project, I need a knife fob for the girlfriend's blade. Which is a purple Chimney Rock Columbia sportswear fixed blade. Just simple and classy. I'd repay your skillfull efforts with a nice old/new Frontier Folding Hunter. Whenever you can find the time, only if you're interested.

Phil

Don Luis,

Nice work! I'll have to get some pics of some of my lanyards and post them for you.

Later,

Rob

Thank you guys,

So, I might be working on a hat band starting this thursday, we´ll see how it goes.

Lt,

I tried to send you an e-mail but I can´t connect to my mail server so I´ll ask a couple of questions here, I´ve allowed recieving e-mails from members in my profile.

After some thought I think it will not be a flat braid, but a band made from 4 separate hand braided round cords.

Do you prefer subtle colors like black-brown-beige ?, or something brighter like purple-green-orange ?, in other words, would you like colors to match or contrast the hat color ?, maybe some color but not too flashy ?.

Also, it will be adjustable but still would help to know your hat size, I wear a small 6 3/4 or 6 7/8, could use one of my hats to see how it looks and fits and adjust for your size.

Phil,

The problem with knife lanyards is that they are much better when tied right into the knife but I think we can get around that, we´ll see about it later.

Rob,

Now, I think this is a thread where we can talk knots, and anything else really.

I guess I should sign just with my name, like everyone else,

Luis

Edited a couple of times for spelling.

Rob, this is kinda a different forum. We only need to mention Schrade at least once per thread... haha. Seriously, our official Schrade moderator deserted his post here many months ago. Frankly, I wouldn't exactly welcome him back with open arms, myself. ( Edited to add: Last appearence by Tim Faust, moderator, was 2/23/03. One fear I have is that Spark will stop in here sometime and see we are moderator-less and close the place down)

So we learn on our own, guided by our LT. He is, despite what he may say to the contrary, our leader and an expert in the fields of all the different Schrade lines through out the years. He gives us lessons, homework, quizes.. It's not all fun and games and ping pong balls here. Sorry, some inside humor.

We are the real Imperial-Schrade-Walden lost lambs of Bladeforums. But we have a ball.

Show us some knots!

Regards,

Phil

Dang man you are serious. I really appreciate it . The campaign hat in the picture is a 7, 1/8. This was issue when I was the watch commander at a shock incarceration camp up near Canada. Wow talk about some funny stories all these ghetto kids from New York City in the piney woods with me as the guy in charge of the DI's and there Sgts. Shock camp is like a boot camp for first time young felons. It was amazing they came in and were typical city gangsters, at the end half cried because they had finally gotten some purpose in there life and some people including themselves that they respected. They didn't want to leave. I had one kid who broke his leg on a heavy metal milk case while running to formation with his company Guidearm??? ( flag ). When we got to him he had tears in his eyes. I asked him if he was crying because he was a little girl and had a boo boo ( I worded it a bit different). So with his broken leg he attempted to stand up and said SIR NO SIR I am just afraid that this will get me kicked out of the program. Not to shabby of a motivated individual for a convict. The sad part is that because they went back to there original environment many returned to prison. Still there were some funny moments. One of my Sgts was a marine viet nam vet who had his throat cut and had been left for dead. Now there was a delicate fellow with a true empathy for his fellow man. Any way most of my hats say Large ???. I have always known I was a fathead. Sorry I got off the subject again. The fancier and the louder the hat band the better. It sounds great and I am sure your judgment will be alot better than mine regarding it. I call my poker strategy the three hand ploy. When I sit down bedecked with big gold rings my hat and any other manner of ostentacious nonsense I have around it usually buys me the first 3 hands of poker where I can intimidate people because I look like I should know what I am doing. However after a few hands they realize that I only look like I should know what I am doing still 3 hands aint bad.

Whatever you decide I can promise you I will certainly treasure ( whoops to strong a word for a guy I mean I will appreciate ). In conclusion ( and sticking with policy of not metioning a Schrade knife any where in this entire rambling) I have just come from The hospital where I experienced quite an interesting procedure called a Colonoscopy ( spelling??? ). 26 years working in jail and I have escaped anything even similar to this experience until today. I was given a clean slate or whatever you would call it. The other positive aspect of this procedure is that it reaffirmed that I do not have any homosexual tendencys. I do not feel I will continue in this vein ( so to speak. ). Any way Don Luis if there is a way to get a Schrade knife ( NOTE SCHRADE MENTIONED IN CONTEXT ), to you I will. Thanks again for the thought I truly appreciate your kindness. LT ( THESE PIPES ARE CLEAN )

LT,

Did the doc kiss you before he did that?

I feel your pain. I mean, not literally of course, better you than me.

Good story, though...

Glenn

Luis, love the lanyard work and the knots are magnificent. Thank you for posting pics.
Oh my gosh!! the monkey fist and those that I can't remember the name of like the celtic cross are Fabulous.
It amazes me that a scanner can do such nice pics.

Of course the SCHRADES are always lovely :)

LT...Glad you passed the colonoscopy with flying ........errrrrr :D

Tom

We could have another line or two of conversation here.

We will all have to undergo the procedure sometime in our lives after 50 and will all be the BUTT of many a joke.

Glad everything came out alright.

Wasn't Schrade involved in the design of some ot the equipment used?
(My Schrade comment) Didn't they design their utility tool after that!

Ok Im done for now.

Later and glad your ok!

Larry
