Decide what youre going to use it for and base your decision off that (if thats any help).
It is. I'm wanting a good all-around, woodsy knife, something that can do everything from fine carving, to shelter building, to fire prep, to game prep -- the proverbial "one knife in the woods." And if it made coffee, too, well that'd be just great. That's my dilemma here; the RC-3 and RC-4 are both, by all accounts, great for all this stuff (except the coffee part, which is a SERIOUS design flaw, IMO).
That said, I do usually like to go with as light/small a knife as I can get get away with (that still fits my big mitts), so I'm leaning heavily towards the RC-3. Just wandered if there was something about the RC-4 that I hadn't considered. Thanks!
I feel your pain, if I want the RC-3 (or the 6 or an Izula, haha) Im going to have to make it a Christmas present. A man needs a good knife (or a few)!
See, now that's exactly what I've been trying to explain to the wife! It's a need, right? I mean, we're talking knives here, so OF COURSE it's a need.
But she's all like, "blah, blah, blah ... needs versus wants ... blah, blah, blah ... responsible adult ... blah, blah, blah ... pay the bills ... blah, blah, blah ... food in the house ..."
I finally told her, I said, "Look! I'm a man. I have manly needs. And one of those needs is a new knife. Now, I'm getting one, and that's final."
Well, those weren't my exact words.
I think my exact words were, "Yes, dear."
But she knew what I meant.
I could totally tell. :grumpy:
