UPDATE Finally got some photos on.

Finally got my first RAT in the mail today! Have been so excited waiting for it. I am down in Tasmania, Australia and ordered it online from Cuttingedgeknives. RC-5 SERE number 1827.

Being in Aus I figured it would have been older stock and so was expecting it to have the traditional sheath but was very impressed when it arrived with the Kydex... loving it!

Planning on using it mostly as a camp knife. I have a dairy farm which I will be taking it back to on the weekend and so hopefully I will get some shots of it in action to show you all.

I have to say, the decision to enter the world of RAT/ESEE knives was based purely on what I have seen and read here, so thanks heaps guys!

Can't wait to get my hands on another one now. Would love an RC-3 MIL or RC-3 based RAT Pack. Just wish I could find one somewhere in Aus, as I have no idea how hard it would be to get one into the country otherwise. Suggestions anyone?

Well, now that I finally have one I look forward to sharing some Aus flavoured RAT stories with you all!

I have no doubt that you will find the RC5 to be one of your favorite knives. I've had mine for several months and use it as my hunting knife. Recently slashed thru some bamboo without any problems.

Congrats on your new ESEE 5! Tasmania, now that's a ways away. I don't remember seeing anyone on here before from that far south yet, may just be a record. I highly recommend the ESEE 3 MIL, it's more workable than the 5, you still have the glass breaking tip, and it's a little thinner. When I got my 3 MIL in the mail I loved it so much I was pissed I haden't ordered it earlier. Congrats again your new blade down under!!!

duude you wont be disappointing the rc-5 is a beast!!! i have one and i've field tested the shit out of it, its the rocky balboa of knives you can hit it, chop with it, dig with it and like rocky it aint going down!

I really like my RC-5 as I know I can hack through aluminum aircraft skin or plexi with it and then it will be bulletproof as a survival tool, especially in the mountains. It gives be a lot of confidence as I know it won't break.

Suggestion of one site to look at: New Graham. If you hunt around on the forum and you will find good feedback re shipping into Australia -

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=528835

I've bought a few from there. Aussie customs do open the packs to inspect the contents (customs leave a note advising you they have been poking around in there and that they promise that they haven't taken anything...) so just don't order any daggers/autos and it should all be fine ;)

Congrats on your knife score. :D

So I hacked a few trees today... therefore there is a bit of wood residue on the blade, but I havent bothered cleaning it yet as it will get a bit of a workout tonight. Here's my RC-5 getting prepared for the evenings activities!

Sorry for low quality photos - the missus has the camera so I'm left to take them with my phone!!

Nice pictures for a camera phone. I imagine you do some recreation/hunting with the shotgun and rifle. Can't wait to see some more pics, especially with the good camera! Get some more scenery in there also, Australia's a beautiful country!
