Been looking for one of Russ' knives for a long time...finally got one!
This is Mr. Andrews "no name" bowie, not a "Hawthorne" as I first stated. (He's trying to come up with a good name - any suggestions?)
The blade on this one is a tick over 10" of W2 (my favorite) and satin finished to 1200X. The handle is a killer piece of Amboyna Burl complimented with double twist damascus fittings. Russ stitched up the beautiful sheath with an ostrich insert and a damascus frog.

All together, I think it makes a wonderful package - here it is...

Special thanks go out to:
SharpByCoop for the great photograph,
Danbo and Roger Pinnock for letting this one slip through their fingers,
and finally, to Mr. Andrews for building such a beautiful knife.

You are aquiring quite the collection of big W2 blades, aren't you? That is a NICE piece.

Joe - W2 has always been a favorite of mine, going all the way back to the late 90's when I purchased a knife from John Smith - he was a BIG fan of W2.

If this one could have been had in stag...
I'm dreaming - Roger and/or Danbo would never had let it go!

Well, Danbo didn't technically get his mits on it - I occupied his slot and took delivery from Russ. I know you've been wanting one of Russ' knives for some time and since I am fortunate to have several of his pieces, I was more than willing to pass this one on to an appreciative home.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the blade finish - which I think is six different kinds of awesome.

At 1200 grit, you are starting to get to the "tear your hair out in frustration trying to get it right" neighborhood.

No kidding - particularly since he takes them to 1500, then back to 12.

Michael; great acquisition! A beautiful knife from a great maker.

Roger; nice gesture/random act of kindness! :) Another collector allowed me to purchase a knife he beat me to because he found out I wanted desperately to give it to my wife for Valentine's Day this year. A few weeks ago I was able to do the same thing for a collector who wanted a knife from a maker I have been fortunate enough to obtain several knives from.

I enjoy the knife passion not only for the thrill of the hunt in acquiring great pieces but also for the "good souls" I've had the pleasure of encountering along the way.

Stunning! What a perfectly proportioned and beautiful piece. Everything is right in this one. Nice acquisition.

Just a killer piece .... Love that long slender clip point blade... Outstanding:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Outstanding in every way.
Congrats, Michael.
Just crazy about this one, looks perfect.

Thanks for the comments guys....
It's caring attitudes, like some of those expressed in this thread,
that help make this such a great business/art to be involved in.

Micheal......I might have a piece of stag or two laying around
somewhere..!

Michael, congratulations on the great knife. Great execution and the whole package is really nice. Good flow to it.
Really nice aquisition.
