I sold a knife a couple days ago. Actualy sold 2. And then another one this morning. All railroad spike knives. I am quite pleased with myself. As I work for the railroad, I have a good amount of people that want them for the neet factor alone. The more of those I sell, the more money I have to spend on better equiptment and materials so that I can make some really nice knives out of good steel. Any doubts I had as to wether or not I could be a bladesmith are now removed. Thank you everyone for all the advice and support you have given me as a newcomer to the craft and thank you in advance for the future advice and support. You are a great bunch of people and I cannot even begin to express how happy I am that I stumbled upon this website and decided to finally jump in and start making some blades!

Luckily you don't have state sales tax in NH, but I am sure you sent 15% to the IRS ):

Just kidding, congrats !

Congrats on the sales, kind of a rush when you find out people actually want to buy something you made, isn't it.

Congratulations! There is a good deal of affirmation in having happy customers, I wish you many more!

Its definatly a good feeling. When I started I didn't think I would actualy sell anything. But now that every knife I have tried to sell has actualy sold, I'm a happy fella. Another guy is buying 3 more on Monday, I suppose I have to get crackalackin cause I only have one finished haha.

Um, and where did you get those spikes? Did you know that your supervisors will rank taking those right up there with a rule G violation? I'm sure you got permission before you...

Ah crap man, just kidding!! Congrats on the sale. Pics? I have a couple of conductor buddies that are retiring in a few months. I'm thinking about making some for them.

Did you get my email about the axle and/or draw bar?

Congratulations. I remember that first sale, it's a great feeling. Spike knives are a good way to start.

Congratulations!

I have sold every knife I have made except the first one which I kept.

I don't really make any money on them but nothing makes me work harder and strive for perfection more than knowing it is going to belong to someone else.

Hey Machetefoot... I just received my knives....

They both failed at the car hood test and the edge rolled when I tried to chop through a street curb... now, I can't even wittle doghair into little palm trees! Sup wit dat!!!!:grumpy:

How do you intend to compensate me?

Rick:p

Congrats on your sales... it's a cool and scary feeling when people buy items you craft. I know I still can't ship a knife without looking over the blade and sheath for hours before packaging.

I am happy for you!
I am working on my first knife for sale and it is stressing the heck out of me. :(

Great, Patrice.

Hey machetefoot, I want some background on your username. It makes me think of playing mumbletypeg with my dad one day when I was about 8 yrs old, we were using a machete and I hit him in the foot. He was OK, though.

So I gotta know, what's it mean to you?

First of all congratulations. I also make some railroad spike knives. I you don't mind me asking how much do you sell the for. I try to get 30 out of mine but almost nobody will buy them. Do you do a flat or hollow grind?

Congrats again

Congrats! Where are you in NH? I have folks in Merrimack and will be back there this summer. Do you get up to the ABS hammer-in in Maine in the summer?

Railrider, I did get the email, ment to reply but forgot cause I'm a dum dum. As for that stuff, I talked to a couple people and we shall see.

Rick, I am sending you a sword cast from adimantium as compensation.

Thank you everyone so much, the proceeds of those two knives bought me a new bench vice, a new metal quench bucket (I was using a tipped over trash barrel) and various other supplies. I am selling 3 more when I get to work tonight. The beautiful thing about working for the railroad is that everyone I work with wants a railroad spike knife and I'm the oooooonnnnllly one around that makes them mwahahaha

I've made a lot of spike knives and hawks, too. I got lucky, the last track guys I talked to gave me a bucket of nice spikes.

Oh, and THIS THREAD IS WORTHLESS WITHOUT PICS!
