My first sebenza (or a CRK knife)

I would suggest getting a plain Sebenza 21 for your first one as it is the basis and captures the purest form of the Sebenza.

I myself started with a Small Sebenza 21 as a CRK newbie. I am a "less is more" kind of guy and I was attracted to the minimalist approach of the Sebenza.

Some may not like or even grow to love the Sebenza, but those who do or eventually does will definitely appreciate the design and philosophy behind this beautiful knife.

But prepare yourself once you have grown to love the Sebenza as you will spiral down into a buying spree and won't stop until you are flat broke.. :D

Before, I wanted Sebenza just to feel the “standard” and wasn't really attracted by them.

But after having Tolk as my first “semi-custom” (or midthech if you will), I started to appreciate philosophy and details behind knife designs more, and meticulous machining and fitting of this class of knives.

Then I re-read the sticky post by Chris Reeve as well as descriptions on his web site about his design philosophy and execution.
They did not ring a bell in me before, but this time turned me on.
Now I really want to experience the “standard” in my hands.

You might say I am hooked by the marketing BS.
But this is my situation.

So, at the moment, I am not so into decorations but the basic minimalistic design and fitting of Sebenza.

If you buy new, I'd definitely recommend going with silver lug and hardware, like Vaporstang's pic above.

Initially I wanted double silver lugs on my 21 until I was informed by CRK that the silver lugs were only available from a certain dealer, whose name escapes me right now. But as I figure it the colour of the lugs won't make the knife cut any better.

I also have not seen a satin blade (grind area) on a plain jane sebenza.. I thought they were just in UG / CGG / Inlayed Sebenzas...

That's true north knives...

I question the authenticity of that one. The CR logo is too deep and the lettering is not blasted.. The blade grind starts past the scales. No lanyard pin.
At first I was thinking maybe the camera angle made the knife appear different. Plus, don't some dealers offer the 21 with a polished as opposed to a stonewashed blade?

Thanks ice_man.

I edited my above post. After noticing the copyright on the pic in the ad, I think the picture may be of a pre-Idaho stamp Sebenza and not a current model. I apologize for jumping the gun.

Just to clarify.
The shop I referred is very popular in Japan for selling imported knives, and I don't question the authenticity of the knives they sell at the moment.
Thanks for caring, though.

I just got my first CRK knife.
Since a large Sebenza 21 was sold out in a local shop, I ended up ordering a Umnumzaan.
Beautiful knife!
I absolutely love it.
