Hi guys!
I'm from Germany and not a native English speaker, so please have mercy with me.. ;)

I just finished my first knife & sheath.
Only common tools were used and I know that the knife isn't perfect.
But I'm pretty suprised what's possible to do with a small workshop, some basic tools and a bit of craftman's skill.

Any Feedback and tips are appreciated!
I want to learn more for my next projects, so feel free to point out any mistakes or design flaws.

Let me begin with some specs:

- blade length: 118mm (which suits perfectly to German laws)
- blade thickness: 4mm
- overall length: 236mm
- blade steel: 1.2842 (which should be comparable to O2 steel)
- grind: FFG
- angle: 19° per side
- weight: 216g
- weight with sheath: 294g
- handle material: oiled acacia

The handle fits very well in my hand and the thumb ramp offers a lot of grip.

I don't have a lot of cutting expierence yet but the blade is insanely sharp!
I cut some vegetables with it and was very happy with the result. The FFG makes it a great slicer.
In addition the "modified sheepsfoot" is a great shape for food preparation.

Let's come to the interesting part of a presentation: pictures! ;)

There is already a little patina on the blade.

I hope you enjoyed the pictures.
I'm looking forward to some replies from you fellow knife nuts!

Greetings!

Not bad at all.
I will have a little more to add to this once I have some time, but for the next time you make a sheath, I would suggest making the belt loop near equal to (or a touch longer) than the handle.
- Doing this will allow you to move about freely without the butt hitting you in the side and generally allow for greater comfort while doing most tasks. Picking veg, bent over for fire prep, sitting will keep the handle from sticking to far out behind you.

nice job - looks very slicey! Use the crap out of it, that will let you know where it may need ergonomic improvements.

Considering that I am a huge fan of modified sheepsfoot/Wharncliff blades, I really like that knife!
I can see the utility and the ergo's in that overall design.

Get a maker membership, and you have at least one customer right here!

Thanks for the feedback so far.

I thought about a different sheath geometry, too. But I already have a sheath with a ''high loop''. So I wanted to try a new style and see how it compares.
I will find out if a knife at the belt line or above fits better to me. ;)

@jr88fan:
Thanks, I feel honored! But before I consider to sell/reproduce a knife, it has to practically prove that it is worth it.
We will find out...

I don't know if you know about the knife making area of the forum but you will probably really like it if not. You can really learn a lot there and get tons of tips, tricks, and ideas.

Looks good and keep at it if it's something you enjoy. Much better than my first attempt!
