My first Spyderco

Excited to share that I finally purchased my first Spyderco.

After much research and contemplation, I purchased a Manix 2 with black G10 handles, which was a sprint run. It features the CTS-BD30P steel.

Any thoughts on my overall decision?

Best,
Ray

I think the Manix 2 will be a great first Spyderco for you. I know nothing about the steel in that particular sprint, but the knife itself fits perfectly in my hand and it feels like a beast. I own the CRUWEAR sprint, a black/black, and an S110V lightweight. I love holding the G10 versions, but it's a treat to carry and use the lightweight. Enjoy your new knife!

Nice choice for a first. Of course, I hope you are aware that it won't be your last.

Welcome to the addiction!

By the way, why didn't you post this in the Spyderco sub?

Gotta love Spydercos! I really like that Manix 2 design, I am sure a Paramilitary 2 will be on your short list as well....and the addiction starts. :)

I have a feeling that I'm in trouble. I already have a few other models in mind, starting with the PM2, and a Manix 2 Lightweight. The one that I'm really after is the first Manix with the lock back.

Re the [post, I just saw the general discussion, and didn't think to look further. Thanks for letting me know.

Don't buy any more knives until you've had a chance to get to know this one. Pay attention to the things that you really like about the knife when you use it and also the things that seem like they could be done better.

Then use that information when you go looking for your next knife.

Every knife you own will teach you something about what you like or don't like in a knife and, with a little luck, by your 3rd or 4th knife, you'll have the perfect knife...unless you have the curse. Then you're toast.

That is such a wonderful comment. Well said!

The Manix2 was my first Spyderco as well. I feel it's one of the best deals going. It has a little heft to it but I like that. And I still carry one as my back up to this day.

I heard that somewhere. But that bit of fatherly advice didn't work on me. I'm still trying to figure out what I like.

My first was the Native from Walmart, back when they sold them. Still like it. The most recent one was the Kiwi 4.

Great feedbacks. The first one may be more of a keeper. I may purchase a production one either g10 or LW to carry and play with. I've been eyeing the PM2 as well.

Just use them. They are meant to use. Most everyone seems to like the PM2. It is a good size.

The Kiwi 4 took me by surprise. I picked it up, opened it and held it in my hand. Had to have it.

Welcome aboard!!!!
You can't go wrong with spyderco, I've got a few left that I'll never let go of.
Well done for a first knife

Great choice. The Manix 2 is my favorite Spyderco and on numerous occasions, has won the pocket over knives 4X it's price. It's such a joy to hold and use. I have a plain FFG S30V and a CruWear, and couldn't imagine parting with either. Will probably get a LW S110V too.

Good choice with the g10. I got my gf the LW one a while back and it just sits on the shelf. Shed rather carry her ZT or her spyderco native. I hate the feeling of the frn on the manix. Its to large for such thin slabs of frn. They flex and feel extremely cheap. I do love the frn on my native though. If I ever felt the need to get another manix it'd be a g10 model.

Be happy. You did "good." Nice knife. I've had a couple of those.
You'll have many more...
