My first Spyderco

I've got a few Spydercos (PPT, PM2, Karahawk, Terzuloa SLIPIT, Vallotton, Caspian Salt 2...it seems like I'm forgetting something). The blade/handle shapes and ergonomics of each of these is vastly different. Every one of them even uses a different locking mechanism to some degree. If the Spyderco logo was removed and you showed them to someone with no prior knowledge of the knives it might be hard to guess they were all made by the same company.

yeah, the comment about all Spyderco ergonomics being the same is odd to me. one of the primary strengths of Spyderco's catalog is the enormous number of options for handle and blade shapes.

OP, I would at least take a look at the 2016 catalog (can be found online easily). You see immediately that Spyderco ergos and overall design of the knife can vary significantly from knife to knife. I'm guessing you are unfamiliar with the brand and assume the only knives are enduras and delicas which are more similar to what you have.

What i don't understand, you ordered a NON serrated and received one with serrated blade?is it so difficult to send it back, and get the one you ordered?the shop keeper/owner should do the return shipping /without cost on youre part, that's what i call SERVICE.

The "big South American river" site is where it came from. I had it sent to the yard office, since I get there much more often than home.
Seems the (big) boss' wife did not see who the package was addressed to, opened it, saw it was a knife, and put it in her desk.
The box and papers (presuming there was a box and papers ...) were put into the trash 2 , maybe 3 months before I made it back to the yard.
No box/papers, no return or exchange.

Oh well. My philosophy is "Don't sweat the small stuff. And when you get right down to it, it's all 'small stuff'."

I'll gift it or sell it, and move on. I might try a Spyderco at a shop, if I like it, (and can afford it) I'll buy it.

Give it another shot. Use it exclusively for a month or two. Then you can make a more complete opinion from experience.

I understand that you like Traditionals. How about the Spyderco Air? It certainly has Trad roots and I think it would blow you away. I also suggest the Delica or Chaparral as your first real Spyderco. It can be had for around $100 right now.
