It's also on my first katana.

It was some of Aldo's 1075. I'm thinking there is some oxidation here that should be removed???

The only metal polish I have is brasso, and it took all the dark off and wiped out the hamon, same with 2000 grit paper. I noticed several people using mothers polish. Does that lend to an advantage?

i would read some of nick wheelers polishing threads he has some great tips on hamons, from what ive read the loose powders with oil tend to now wash out your ashi like paper can
