My first woodgas stove!

Hi Derekh, yeah I was talking about your stainless steel version. Couldnt tell from the picks the dimensions. It looked quite big. Heres a link to a set on ebay that is my exact setup, only my pot stand is a little different.

I also have one of those Ikea utensil holders (another goodwill find. $1.99) but found it eats fuel and I couldnt fab a pot stand I was happy with. This season Im gonna try out a US MIL canteen cup, homemade stove and pop can penny stove set up. The stove was made from another canteen cup, so I can multi fuel it up. Ide like to see how your whole system fits together ( Im big on the cook set and stove/ fuel all fitting together) Well, happy trails and be safe out there.

Sure thing. I will get more pics later (provided I remember) but in the meantime here is how it goes together.

The stainless steel pencil holder in the middle goes into it's own bag, preventing it from contaminating the cookset, then fits inside the smaller set (the two pieces in the middle in the background). These then get wrapped in a towel (to cut down on clinking and clanking) and stuffed into the larger set, just as you normally would assemble it. Then the large outer container is turned right side up (if it were still a utensil holder) and the pot stand is placed flat into the bottom. On top of that the assembled cookset goes. It is a very tight fit, but it does fit, then the whole set is placed into the bag that the cookset came in and looks like this:

The very center piece has plenty of room to hold an alcohol stove and a can of sterno, or other such goodies, a fire kit, etc... Like I said, I will try to get pics up in the near future of how it all goes together.

Oh, Thats perfect. The cook pots you have in the back ground are the same ones I was talking about. I also love how it comes apart (for easy cleaning/ repair) awesome. Well now Im on a mission to find suitable stainless containers to copy your design. Hope you dont mind, after all, imitation is the highest form of flattery. Thanks again

That is how it all comes apart, scroll up slowly to see how it goes together.

;)

Finally got a working version of this - a Progresso soup can and a 1 quart paint can will snap together - just fits perfectly. There are lots of plans online for paint can wood gas stove.

Most home stores have clean empty paint cans and a can of soup is $2.

Love this thread. It caused me to watch way too many youtube videos on woodgas stoves. I've found progresso cans have bulged ring around the bottom that stops them from being dropped into the opening of the quart paint cans. Am I doing something wrong here? BTW Derek, I think yours is the cleanest constructed stove I've seen.
