My four day canoe trip.

Great trip ...one of my dreams to do a paddle but alas, African rivers not suited for this. Looks like you hade a roaring time.

Glad to hear that you had such a good time and I'm not at all suprised. I leave in ten days for my eight night trip and can't wait even though I've been doing it for the last 46 years. We have a lot of the stuff down to a science now but still try to tweak the way we do things. It's my favorite place for field testing any fixed blade knives I design and make and has caused me to evolve what I first thought was a good design.
By the time I go in on the 13th the mosquitoes will be history and yyes, I switched to kevlar canoes 15 years ago.

Looks like a wonderful trip, and I very much enjoyed your pictures. Thanks for posting it. :)

Yeah, that looks like a lot of fun, any pictures of the camps? We have a 7 day canoe trail through the Everglades I've been thinking about for years but I have some work to do to get in shape for it.

Looks like a great time. It's difficult to work a camera and a canoe, but you got some good pics. Supper looks delicious!

Aubrey,

One of the members of a club to which I belong made kayak trips down both the Nile and the Congo. Of course, he lost his partner to crocs on the Congo so I can see your point about African rivers not being the best for this mode of travel. The Hippos would worry me a lot too.

I thought that scenery looked familiar.

I like that area around Basswood and Fourtown lake is a favorite of mine.

Waters looking low, must of made the Horse river fun.

Great pics, thanks for sharing.

The water was a little high the week there, makes things easier.

I expected to get wet which I did....but underestimated the weight of a 100lb portage pack. They aren't desgined for more than just getting alot stuff over a relativley short distance. Shoulders are burning by the end of the trip.

If I could change one thing, it'd be to pack one extra pair of light, canoe/camp shoes. A backup incase you boots get soaked, or just to get your lower shin and ankles some air. An axe would have been nice, but we were able to make do with a camp saw.

That was are sencond camp. It was pretty nice, next to cove where there were some rockbass biting, my brother caught about three of them.

Thank god for crystal lights, we had plenty of lemonade the whole trip.

Great trip! I used to do some canoeing in the Adirondacks, and I would love to try out Boundary Waters.
