My four-legged friend.

Ken,

Caught this this morning and just wanted to add my hopes that Remmington is home and recovering well. I can't imagine how it would feel if anything happened to our Shepherd/Collie, Java. Dogs are some of my favorite people. Bless you, your friend and your family.

Just an update.

Next week I have to take Rem to an veternary opthamoligist (sp?) for his right eye. Over the past few days the swelling has gone down but I think he has limited vision. When he walks to the right he has to turn his head to the right so his left eye can catch a glimpse of where he is going. He flinches when I bring a finger in from his periphiral vision on the right but he loses it when it gets closer in to his focal point. This is not a good. If he is indeed blind in that eye his hunting days are over and it's gonna kill me because I know how much he enjoys it.

Sorry to hear about Remmington's sight issues. Hopefully it will heal over time as it's only been a few days yet. Regarding the hunting, isn't it possible that he uses his nose more so than his eyes? Just being hopeful here.

I am really sorry to hear this Ken, I hope things work out for the best. I am certainly a dog person and my last dog was a Cairn Terrier called Pepper, she was a wonderful dog and I bonded with her as a child. She was really my parents dog and a couple of years ago she had to be put down as she was getting old and was having various problems. My parents made the decision without giving me the chance to say goodbye (I had moved out by then) I really miss her and as I am writing this I am choking up and the tears are flowing. I don't care if some think it is not manly to cry, I am.

Well when I was in Times Square, I went into the Toys R Us for some reason and found a Cairn Terrier stuffed toy dog. I bought one for myself and one for the parents. I had never seen a Cairn terrier dog toy before and I think something was working that day, I had no reason to go into that store. There was nothing there I wanted... Fate?

Everytime I see that toy, I feel a lump at the back of my throat and it takes me back to the good times we had walking in the woods in autum and walking on the beach. God I love that dog and I wish she were still alive, a part of me died the day she did. I am a lesser person as a result.

Sorry to hear about Remmington's vision. Hope the visit to the opthamologist goes well and the loss is just temporary. At least he's home with his family now. Hang in there.
