Sometimes even if you give them advice they still won't listen. I recently found out a buddy of mine was in search for an "EDC" but he knew nothing about knives. He did some quick research on his own and decided he wants either a cold steel or a SOG. I advised him to take a look at the spydercos (para 2, manix 2, delica) and he completely ignored it and bought what he wanted anyways.

SOG and Cold Steel are great little beaters for someone who doesn't know much about knives. I agree that a Para 2 would be my choice over any CS or SOG, but they come at a price and non-knife people might not respect the para 2.

Yeah he overpaid. But there is nothing wrong with a gerber prodigy . Great beater knife. I have one , and use it for yardwork. I also have the sandvick steel version though. Might make a difference.

Experience may be the best teacher but it is not the only one..think of the readers here who will now pass on following your friends lead.
