Today I finally got GEC #73 without linerlock. Tidioute Tracktor Green Bone. Comparision is Northfield Yellow Texas Rose #73 with linerlock. The extra steel liner in Northfield is not much but in my hand that little bit made quite change. Without lock Knife felt lighter and slimmer.

Both #73 has very minor gaps near bolster but I couldn't get them photgraphed. Solid with very good fit and finish with practically no bladeplay unless you start yanking blade with all of your strength. I love single blade Scout's. I love my Scout knives. Thanks to Greg and his great services I am sure these are not my last Scout's, that all depends how I find work after Christmas though.

Now I've had some... tought luck with GEC knives as my Yellow Rose was 2nd GEC. It was poorly constructed so I sent it back and after some customs difficulties I had it back. Since knife I sent back was so poorly constructed I am sure they made extra attention to this yellow one. Its damn near perfect with one neele point sized gap near bolster. Damn good fit and finish. Now greenbone had slightly bigger gap near same place but out of box, I am amazed the quality and f&f GEC puts on these knives. When getting from the States I get them 40-60% of the price I would need to pay for them in Europe. Now I actually can buy more GEC's and with the quality like this and Greg inspecting them as I request before shipping them to me, I am going to buy more GEC's when I have money. I already have Bloodredbone Gec toothpick comming and I am eyring some nice EDC #48 slimline trappers from GEC.

So far all my GEC knives have been single bladed, I just realized that.

jani i do'nt see that the very small gaps you detail are of significance. these very small imperfections would certainly not be a point of contention in gec quality from my opinion. i'm glad you finally got a distributor to help with your initial nitemare. i certainly agree you had a big problem with the 1st gecs you purchased.the slim trappers are great knives but are'nt designed to handle as much stress as the 73s. this is not a condemnation only an observation as applied to tasks you might give to each model.good luck in your quests.

I've got a Tractor Green on the way too from Greg's 'garage' this is a 48 Barehead Trapper and I'm looking forward to it a lot! Nice colour on that green.

Dennis: I agree all you say. Small gaps are not problem at all. These are wonderful knives. These #73's are my do it all while #48 would be more: urban beauty and to carry in workplace. Slim, nice, good looking and non-offensive.
willgoy: I so wait so I have money to get mine. I've always wanted slimline trapper. I like tractorgreen.
Soulogun: I hope you like yours as much I like mine.

I do like this pattern alot for a single blade. Can't seem to find a stainless model though I guess they were in the first run or something.

No single blade stainless No.73 as far as I know.

There are some in the 23 pattern but it's a massive and bulky knife for my pockets, fine knife though!

There are some stainless 73s, but not "production".

There is this one...

#735108
American Elk 35 pcs. serialized Factory Test Production Run

and there were some made as a special order for someone who sold them all on ebay. (one was red bone, I don't remember the other colors). They were 420 stainless.

The two on the bottom right of this picture show examples of these.

Thanks Eric. Now I come to think of it, I saw one of those Red stainless 73s on the Bay myself! Should have snapped it up.

good pics jani & eswartz is really rooling with his great selection of 73s. the 73 will handle any task & in the single blade is really fine in slacks.
