My Girfriend Wants a Spyderco...

After showing the girlfriend my latest knife purchase she said to me... "I'd like a knife too..." I love my girlfriend :D

Well, out of all my knives she only really seems to like the design of Spyderco's. I've tried to pin her down to a model, but it's proving tricky, so I thought I'd get some suggestions from you guys.

She currently has possession of my Leaf point Lil' Temperance which she likes, but says it's a little too big to carry every day. In the end she is after something that can be easily carried and is "left handed friendly." Uses will be from letter opening to gardening/pruning. She prefers plain edge but doesn't like zytel as it looks 'plasticky' to her.

Any suggestions gratefully received

Thanks,
Hellz

Well I'm guessing that since you g/f isn't a collecter she is going to want one of the lower priced Spydies... The SS DragonFly PE is a really sweet knife. You'll probably want to have her take a look at that.

I have noticed women seem to like the Native, and it does have a reversible clip. The Delica and Rescue also seem to appeal to women.

Hellz,
How about the Ti Salsa. It has nice handles, wide blade like the lil' temp and not too large. The integral lock also appears to be leftly friendly. I have the PE and use it at work 4 out of 5 days.

Hi,

buy to her something bigger, Police or Civilian, or Endura...,or Gunting, she can strike you to your head, when you will unpleasant ...

But...lol, uu, if its your photo, on the icon, then she will need machine gun ...and not some Cricket :D :D :D

Tell to your girlfriend about bladeforums, and take her to here, i will not "Robinson" here ...;)

I have read here and i dont know, why EVERY man is in feel, that girl must have smaller knife ONLY ....

???

How about a Massad Ayoob.
In addition to whatever else she gets, however, you have to get her a Spydercard.

In this case it might be because he said that the Lil Temperance is too big, so people tend to think of tiny knives that will be easy to carry. I know what you mean though.

It wasn't my style for a variety of reasons, but I found the passaround Salsa to be impressive for what it was, definately something worth a look. I remember thinking that the compression lock was (to me) on the wrong side for a right handed person, so it will likely be quite lefty friendly.

....yes,super advice, Spydercard as her tool and Ayoob, when she will need, against her husband ...:D :D

Well out of all the Spyderco's I have I carry my Delica the most. It's just handy. I used to carry my Endura but I went and got my girlfriend a Delica and I liked it. So when I went a few months later to get myself one low and behold they had the new 98 models with reversible clips. It's been in my pocket ever since.

I would go for a SS Cricket. Besides having a great VG-10 blade with a great shape it has a very stout framelock. I'm thinking about getting my girlfriend one as it also carries very well.

Get her a stainless Delica and have her name engraved on it...That way, she HAS TO like it.:).

I'm not sure why women seem particularly fond of Spydercos, but my wife and female friends all seem to follow that pattern too. Maybe women just have naturally better taste than men? ;)

Based on her fondness for the Lil Temperance I would also suggest a Salsa. It's slimmer and less bulky, but has a somewhat similar feel in the hand.

I'd also recommend one of the aluminum models, because the clip on the titanium version is not reversible. I love my Titanium Salsa, but the aluminum ones are somewhat more "lefty friendly".

Get her a plain-edged aluminum Salsa in her favorite color and I bet she'll love it!

I'd say Salsa.
I have the blue salsa and that thing has a killer edge. I'm not sure how lefthand friendly is it though.

I got one for my girl and she loves it it has the blue mother of pearl look, kind of fancy, but is still a hard worker, and I am left handed and it is esy to use.

Simona, it is true that women do not necessarily want small blades. My wife adopted my Al Mar Pathfinder and will not give it back to me. It is a very large knife, more like a sword, with about 16 inches of blade if I remember correctly. But, she also likes Spyderco Harpies, Jesters and Ladybugs, and loves playing with the Delica trainer. Most men I see with Spyderco knives seem to like the Delica and smaller for actual carrying, even if they collect the larger ones.
