...yea, talk about taking the wind out of my sails!

Was giving the kiddo a bath today, ketchup in the hair=afternoon bath, when UPS rang the doorbell. My girlfriend was over so she watched him for a minute while I opened my new Sebenza direct from Plaza.

I'm all smiles when I show her. She looks at it and says "That's Umm, nice honey ". Nice?:barf:

I knew she didn't dig it so I asked what was up. She said it looked a little feminine.

Huh?

Ok, it's a night sky themed Sebenza. Ok, it has purple mountains. Ok, it has a pearl moon. BUT, its BIG, and hey, it's a knife!

So what do y'all think? Is it girly?

Pics to follow later this evening after work.

I never thought of the sebenza as being particularly masculine.
You can't carry a girl's knife, can you? You should just send it to me.

Some of the decorated sebenzas are pretty feminine but I would say most of them are neutral and spiffy. In my opinion the plain sebenzas and umnumzaans are the manliest knife designs out there without getting into mall ninja territory.

As you posted in my thread I have the opposite "Morning Sun" Looking forward to pictures.

In the shot on the Plaza site, it's a little more embellished than I would be inclined to go for, but not particularly "girlie."
But it is a pretty knife.
Maybe she thinks they should all be tough and ugly. Or maybe she wants it.
I bet the kiddo will love it. My oldest (7) surely would, but I wouldn't let her touch it.
Girlfriends/wives rarely understand our obsession. We're lucky when at least they put up with it.

Haha I am digging these responses.

I love my girl and she puts up with my little knife "habit" pretty well, but I love this damn knife.

Can't wait to post pics of my humble Sebenza family. Dropping the kiddo off then straight to work, but I will post em by this evening.

Thanks for the replies and keep em coming!

I have actually had similar remarks from my wife when she sees some of the decorated Sebenzas.
That usually happens more with the newer designs by Lisa.

In my experience, the older ones designed by Chris do not elicit the same reaction.

I personally like both the old and new designs.

Anyway, I like it!:thumbup::p

There is a particular amount of femanistic romace about that knives graphics so I would be inclined to agree with her. It's still a Sebenza though and under that lipstick, eye liner and plucked eye brows there is a plain Ti scale trying to get out ! :D:thumbup:

Oh Haze, I was going to have her read this thread in my already thin and shaky defense, but after that she'll feel more in the right than ever.

Hell, I like it, even if it is purty:D

I also let my two year old BOY wear pink socks and purple shoes so it's not like machismo runs my life anyway:rolleyes:

(disclaimer : I weigh 270lbs, I have a shaved head, a beard, many tattoos, and I also ride a Mad Max looking motorcycle. Im secure enough to carry a pretty purple knife, although I was insecure enough to ask everyone here's opinion :p)

With the full moon, you can try the werewolf angle ;-)

Haha I tried it;)
She doesn't care as long as I'm happy. She's a good woman. I think being so (excuse this poor pun) over the moon about something and your other half isn't is just a bit of a let down.

She'll come around:)

Bro, after your self-description, I'm scared to tell you what I really think. Hehe.

I don't think it's girly, but it's not as tough looking as the other two you have there.

It's Super Girly And I'm A Girl And Appreciate Pretty Things So.. You Should Send It My Way!! :D

Just Kidding, No It's Not Girly At All Really. Why Do People Think Men Can't Have Things That Have To Do With Nature And A Gender-Neutral Color Without Being Immasculine? I Don't Get That. My Little Brother Wears Every Color In The Rainbow Along With Stars And Other "Girly" Things... But Who Cares? As Long As You're Happy With It That Is What Matters. I Mean, Growing Up I Wore All Boys Clothes And All Boys Colors and Played With Action Figures And Played With Toy Guns And Everything Else. My Parents Didn't Care. I Mean, Just Because You Like Something That The Other Gender Likes Doesn't Mean You're Girly Or Manly.

I Still Wear Mens Clothing, I Like Manly Looking Things, I Use Axe And Old Spice, But I Am A Total Girl Lol.

As Long As You're Happy And Comfortable With Your Things And Yourself, Little Comments About Whether It's Not Exactly Super Manly Or Girly (Depending On Your Gender) Really Don't Matter. Because At The End Of The Day, It's Your Opinion Of Yourself That Matters The Most.

Stunning knife!

I have always wanted to get one of those.
It definitely is beautiful, and maybe beauty is normally associated with women. She probably meant to say beautiful :D

Congratulations on a great knife and understanding woman :D

Art on a knife confuses many non knife enthusiast. Its the same kind of confusion why you need a expensive sportscar when a econo box will get you there for a lot less money. As a hardcore bowhunter, I love the mountain scene with the pine trees. Why not have your EDC remind you of your other passions?? The outdoors and knives go hand in hand.

Anyway, I like it!:thumbup::p
