I've been bursting at the seams for the last few days, but I wanted to wait and get a couple pics to share before I posted.

This past Saturday over the Easter weekend, my wife and I were officially asked to be the godparents of my brother-from-another-mother's baby girl Lily. I mean, I would have always considered myself to be an uncle to this little sweet pea, but the absolute honor of being her godfather? I had no idea. I'm not a man with a lot of close friends, but those that I do have I watch over like a hawk. This little girl may not have a drop of my DNA in her, but she was always going to be considered closer to family to me. I don't think I've ever been more swollen with pride that I am right now:)

As you might have read back in a thread I posted in January, Lily's birth was almost at the exact same time as my father-in-law's passing. The Wheel of Life literally turning before our eyes has had a huge impact on my wife and me. This little girl is always going to be special to us.

Due to the driving distance between us, we had not gotten a chance to meet Miss Lily (or the Bug as her daddy calls her;)) until she was old enough to make the 8 hour drive from Detroit to Evansville over the Easter holiday. It was worth the wait:D We got to hold her and play with her for an hour or so before all the excitement just wore her down to a snooze. That gave her mom and dad some time to catch up with us. We talk often, but it was great to see them face to face. It had been almost 6 months!

Without further ado, her is my 3 month old Goddaughter, the Bug:

She's going to be a heartbreaker one day. If I can ever get a pic of her with her mom and dad, you'll see she's the spitting image of them both. Her dad is just always behind the camera;)

Here she is being attacked by the Easter Bunny. She's tiny. Given my wife and I's size, she's probably the size of what our kids might be at one month old.

Here's some ridiculous slacking mook with a sh#t eating grin holding her. Ignore him. His belt buckle is a bottle opener for God's sake...look how tiny and gorgeous she is:)

I'm hoping to get some more pics on the weekend of her christening some time in May. It's just such an honor to be part of her life. Thanks for letting me boast for a minute or two;)

She is a beautiful baby girl, thank you for the nice picture

I guess I should mention that all this baby stuff has got my wife thinking;) We might start trying for our own little drooler towards the end of the summer:D

She's a cutie, fer sure Steely!
Great pic's....Except that one with the weirdo holding her.
You tell her if he ever picks her up again, she can just soil her diaper on him.

Check out her face, dude....that's exactly what she was doing:barf::D

Sure enough, on a second and much closer look at the photo, I believe you.

Congrat's at becoming a god parent. My god-daughter will be 21years old in June. Times flies ...

Now that you mention it Steely, it does look like she's workin' up a special present for "Uncle Jake". Anyways, if you dont end up with a stained shirt, a wet knee or barf down your back, you havent experienced the true joys of parent/god parenting.

I could tell some pretty funny war stories myself.

Babies are contagious, Jake... if you and your wife touch one, you might be getting one... :D

lol, Mike you have no idea. They are being stork-dropped all around us.
My buddy from high school and college calls me up about 10 months ago that he and his wife are expecting. Congrats:)

I get a call from by best friend, Lily's dad, on father's day weekend last year...drunk off his behind. "Yeah, man, I just had to call ya. We're preggers..knocked up. I'm gonna be a daddy!"

"... OK, cool.. <sinks in> Congrats man! That's great!" His wife had been told years earlier that her reproductive window was going to be pretty small and that they better think about children before she was 30.

In January, my wife's father passes. I get a call the next morning from Lily's dad. I thought it was for condolences, it was an announcement that he now had a healthy 6lb baby girl. I'm sad, and happy, and thrilled, and dead tired...but I'm so glad that their were no complications beyond a C-section...which was planned.

My wife get's a call back from TWO friends from college later that day that want to send their condolences, but they also need to share that they are both expecting.

At my father in law's wake, I get to meet my buddy's one month old son (the one who told me that they were expecting 10 months ago).

Pepper in about 4 or 5 other acquaintances that are expecting, due, or have had a kid....we're the odd ones out:D We'll see. If things go to plan, well I might have an announcement around October;)

Jake, thanks for sharing the pictures. Bet you are tickled pink.

I can simpathize a little, I'm #10 out of 11 kids, all the rest are married with kids. Also all my friends from back home are married. I'm the odd ball being single.

Feel free to post pictures anytime. And keep us posted on your baby situation. ;)

She's beautiful man. Congratulations to both you and your wife. :) and your "brother" and his wife too, of course. :)

Thats cute Jake. Congratulations!

What a Beautiful Lil' Las!!!!

And you must feel honored to be her GodFather (Remember, the GodFather is the one that is standing behind her father holding the Baseball bat the night she goes out on her first date, and the driver of the car when Dad has to hunt her down when she is late for curfew! :) )

Blessed Be,
Willow
