I've been bursting at the seams for the last few days, but I wanted to wait and get a couple pics to share before I posted.
This past Saturday over the Easter weekend, my wife and I were officially asked to be the godparents of my brother-from-another-mother's baby girl Lily. I mean, I would have always considered myself to be an uncle to this little sweet pea, but the absolute honor of being her godfather? I had no idea. I'm not a man with a lot of close friends, but those that I do have I watch over like a hawk. This little girl may not have a drop of my DNA in her, but she was always going to be considered closer to family to me. I don't think I've ever been more swollen with pride that I am right now
As you might have read back in a thread I posted in January, Lily's birth was almost at the exact same time as my father-in-law's passing. The Wheel of Life literally turning before our eyes has had a huge impact on my wife and me. This little girl is always going to be special to us.
Due to the driving distance between us, we had not gotten a chance to meet Miss Lily (or the Bug as her daddy calls her
) until she was old enough to make the 8 hour drive from Detroit to Evansville over the Easter holiday. It was worth the wait
We got to hold her and play with her for an hour or so before all the excitement just wore her down to a snooze. That gave her mom and dad some time to catch up with us. We talk often, but it was great to see them face to face. It had been almost 6 months!
Without further ado, her is my 3 month old Goddaughter, the Bug:
She's going to be a heartbreaker one day. If I can ever get a pic of her with her mom and dad, you'll see she's the spitting image of them both. Her dad is just always behind the camera
Here she is being attacked by the Easter Bunny. She's tiny. Given my wife and I's size, she's probably the size of what our kids might be at one month old.
Here's some ridiculous slacking mook with a sh#t eating grin holding her. Ignore him. His belt buckle is a bottle opener for God's sake...look how tiny and gorgeous she is
I'm hoping to get some more pics on the weekend of her christening some time in May. It's just such an honor to be part of her life. Thanks for letting me boast for a minute or two
