...in price.

Shoosh!!!!

I was thinking of getting one as I have sorta kinda um.... ALWAYS... liked em.

I have a Delica that has ...er..."sentimental"... attachment as we have been through a LOT together.

BUT.... kinda foolishly, and being a knifenut...

I ...messed...with it a bit too much.

I am pleased with the engraving and my own filework on it.

How
Ev
Er........

Not being COMPLETELY satisfied.... I had it ...serrated.

BUT... not satisfied with even .THAT.... I had it
UN serrated....

And it went (all on its own y'know) .....uh....SHORTER.

Sooo, thinking I would replace it with a super dandy WH, I started looking at PRICES today.

Hey, what happened to the appx. $300 the knife shops used to ask?

HA!

Being a cheapo, I have now reprofiled somewhat the Delica edge and am gonna stick with my old pal. :)

How much did the engraving run you?

EDIT: BTW, I love your attitude on customization: too far is just far enough.

Why not just get another Delica and start over? Then you could have a matching set.

Beautiful work, BTW.

THIS one has been with me for years.
Actually "lost" it and ran ads and stuff.
And....it was just CAUGHT on a wire in the back yard.

Also my hands no longer will put up with the filework.

I have a Police that is unmolested except for the engraving.
Spyderco_Police_Hilt.jpg

Well..ALMOST...unmolested. Had to buy another clip to make a "hilt" on the opposite side.

Like I said, the sentimental attachment is to the Delica.

Had I known...when I originally ordered the Delica, I would have gotten the combo edge.

I carry a SAK for actual.... um...using. o_O

And.... the engraver took 4 months to get the Police back to me.

plus, he is revamping his shop and ...well, it just ain't worth the time and effort.

The reprofiled edge on the Delica came out well. It's in my pocket.

A bit SHORTER....but okay for me.

That FIRST engraving cost $125.
He's higher now.

Windy Ridge Engraving in Reno

Considering time, buying a knife, waiting for it, and being an old coot, maybe that William Henry ...ISN'T ...all that expensive. :D

If you love that WH.......go for it!
I have one, forget the model num, and it is an excellent gentleman's folder with a button lock.
Fantastic action that is smooth as oiled glass! Wharnie blade in ZDP that takes a screaming and wicked edge!
My dog ate its sheath when he was a puppy and I have t gotten another so I have t carried it much, but it is worth every penny I paid for it! It'll only hurt for a little while......and when you hold it in your hand, you'll forget about the price!

My problem with WH is that the one I like is maybe too small.
2.125" blade
and VG-5 instead of ZDP-189

And it's the one I really like.

Time will tell.

I hate being indecisive.

When I lost the sheath on my B-15, I put a pocket clip on it. The screws are #0X80TPI.

First, awesome filework.

Second, there are some WH knives that are $300, but that's just the beginning.

I don't know if it's something for you but have you heard of the Farrum Forge Falcon Being made by WE Knives and Mass Drop? The Original Massdrop was a huge success so I'm sure more will be made after everyone that bought the first batch get there knives. Myself included but I doubt that's a shocker since it's my Avatar  It's got a 2.9" blade made of s35vn steel riding on caged bareings. The frame is 6AL4V Titanium. I mentioned it because I thought it might be a great replacement for a W.H. The size is close and at half the price at least. :D

The engraving looks awesome.
BTW since the knife has sentimental attachment, why not just buy a new one and swap the blade out ?
It won't be the same blade but at least the handle will be.

My grandfather's yellow Victorinox classic that was in his pocket when he died was worn out and over sharpened, so I took it's pocket worn yellow scales and put them on a new one he had bought my grandmother that she never used. I would've bought one to put the scales onto if I had to.

I've asked and been told (by Spyderco) that the blade on a SS model can NOT be swapped.

Are they wrong? Hope so as I'd do that in a heartbeat.

I'm looking at a brand I forgot about..... Mcusta! Cool and quality.
Fallkniven, too, but they like nail nicks instead of one handers on the ones that appeal to me the MOST.

:(

But ....wait.... if I got a NEW one and HAD someone swap the blade, it ....could....be a solution.
IF it matched fit on the lock. AND....if... the rivet could be done nicely.

Kinda leery. o_O

You could get a FNR handled Delica 4 and have custom steel (or Ti or Al) slabs made for it and get them engraved.

A really nice looking poor-man's WH is the AG Russell Light'n Bug. Carbon fiber handle, gold hardware, blue Ti pocket clip and liner. Average steel, black Ti coating. It's not a William Henry, but it's only $75.

I've looked at the Light'n Bug since he first listed it.
Can't get over the "Made in China"....thing.

Resisting the trend here, boss. ;)

I found a William Henry E6 series.

Seems to be the only one in the United States. I ordered it and then went back to look at the website and it said it was OUT OF STOCK.

sooooo..... I called the store. They have 20-30 stores scattered around the SE US.
They said it was the ONLY ONE they had and they are shipping it.

There seems to be NO "shortage" of the $700-$9,000 ones.
:D
