Been looking for a not too thick not too long Steelheart for a while and found this one on the bay. Post office screwed up the shipping for an extra week but I finally got it today. I'd love to put a convex edge on it but it will be flat because that's what I'm actually good at. I picked up a ken onion work sharp but I'm not brave enough to use it on good steel yet. The previous owner said that this might be one of a kind as he had to convince Busse to double cut it. Not sure if that's true or not but I don't care either as I'm going to use it. Now it just needs some pants.

Congrats.

First I thought SH was straight handle goodness.......steel heart next best thing!

I have knives the cost more but this is the one that I think of when I think Busse.

Maybe I'll practice up on a couple of fat Ranger knives and then do this one convex on the work sharp. I really don't want to screw it up though.

Nice knife! You could call the shop and see how much they would charge to put a convex edge on it.

If I can't maintain it myself there's no point to putting it on there. I've never had a problem with a standard V grind though anyway so it should be okay either way.

Congrats on a great knife, that thing is sweet! The FSH has always been one of my favorites

The sharpening thing is moot for now, I drug it lightly across my ultra fine stones a couple of times and it's fairly sharp. Which gives me some time to figure out the WorkSharp..

Congrats on your grail. How thick is that one? Convexing by stropping with different grits of sandpaper is hard to mess up.

You got a color pic of it? ;)

The convex FSH is about the perfect big knife, IMO. Mine is similar having been sent to the shop by a previous owner to get stripped and double cut. I've since had it bead blasted by another maker after I shaved off handle and pommel. This knife really hits the sweet spot. :D

Congrats on a phenomenal knife!

Looks like the previous owner worked the edge a bit already.
Profile it the way you like it and beat the snot out of it:)
