Hi folks -

I thought some of you might appreciate this -

Tonight I met my wife, daughter and two granddaughters for dinner.

My daughter told me I had to see this, and then asked my youngest granddaughter to show me her "knife".

Here is what Emily was wearing as her clip on knife like grandpa wears....

I apologize for the image quality, Emily never stands still for a second.

In case you cannot tell, she has a pair of fingernail clippers in her pocket with the handle holding it in place. To her, it is a clip on knife like the ones she always sees me wearing.

I thought it was too cute. I think she is a little young for a knife, but the clippers make her happy and don't seem to be dangerous for her.

Thanks for looking.

best regards -

That is extremely cute. She looks up to you a great deal, obviously. Thanks for sharing :)

Hahaha I used to do that to, well when i was that little pocket clips weren't really around. But i pretended that nail clipper like that were folding knives...especially the ones with the fold out nail files. :D

hehe, awesome.

although, i think grandad might want to consider getting her an upgrade for her birthday.

a SAK would be an awesome gift for a littlie like her.

Hi sambo -

She is only 4, and I don't think she is quite ready for a real blade yet.

She will get one as soon as we (her mother and I) feel it is ok, and Emily still wants one!

I might be able to fix her up something by grinding down a SAK classic so that it does not have an edge....hmmmm.....

There are always the wooden slipjoint kits too. I'm sure you could put a clip on one if you wanted to as well.

Great picture.:)

I have the same folder, they're great! :D

I can't stop laughing....

Great pic. Extremely cute, good to see the little ones following a good example.

"Why do the knife snobs hate on my Revlon clippers?!"

how about one of the mini SAK keychain folders?

it's small enough that she'd be unlikely to do herself (or anyone else) any serious damage. just grind off the tip so it can't be used as a stabbing weapon.

in any event, it's nice to see a young'un learning proper respect for a blade at such a tender age.

Definitely cute!

I've noticed recently that a couple of knives in my drawer are showing signs of wear that I don't recognize (dirt, rolled edge, etc.). At first it bugs me a little bit, then I realized somebody other than me is finding real use for it. No problem.

get her a kids Swiss Army knife. The blades are dull and are made for little kids. Im going to get my Grandson one.

Very cool pic, thanks!!! My daughter is only 6 at the moment but I really hope I get to see similar things later in life!!

That's great :D

Imitation is the highest form of flattery as they say.

reminds me of a time when my son at age 5 brought my Gerber FS I out to the kitchen with the blade open! He picked it off the dresser but couldn't figure out how to close it... we had a "teaching" moment about leaving dad's knife alone -and then how to close it SAFELY! - now at age 40 he's never far from a Delica and still has all his fingers! I hope you look forward to that "teaching time" with your granddaughter!
Peace
Revvie
