It's designed primarily for a saber/filipino grip, although it works fine in reverse or hammer grip as well. I felt it begged for a choil, so I integrated one into the spear point design. Chopped it down a bit for the EDC. They're all handled in bocote (which I think may be my new favorite handle material) with stainless screws while I'm testing the handle design. I wanted an ergonomic fit for the fingers, hence the diagonal grooving on the scales, minimal hot spots, and more of a flared bottom with control for the pinky and ring finger, to help prevent the knife from flying out of the user's hands, as well as a pointer finger groove. Happy to report that I've come a long way from my first knife.
My first knife, for laffs:
Making knives has been one heck of a fun journey. Thanks to Darrin for advice and heat treating my efforts, and to the other makers for their advice and threads. Sometimes I feel like I have half of Shop Talk bookmarked!
Anyways, opinions, criticisms, and suggestions for improvement are welcomed. These are all pre-heat treat, and don't have an edge. The thicker bowie is made out of 1095, and the others are O1.
