My Holy Grail Knife!

I've cleaned my 3.5's by taking out the blade via the pivot screw (voids warranty if you mess it up, but I don't). Sal has said that it cannot be made into full screwed construction because of the size of the knife making it difficult. It would require torx smaller than T6 which would be an issue for a couple of reasons. It's probably best this way, and cleaning them has never been an issue for me.

With 3.5's, I like my SuperBlues... I dont own a CF/ZDP but I have the 3 which is practically the same thing.

I love this knife too. The only reason I havent yet bought one is because i typically don't like Lockbacks.
Can you easily "flick" the knife open and close it with one hand easily?

Lockbacks by design, you need to overcome the locking mechanism for you to open it. If you are well practiced at flicking you could do it, but I just slow open mine. It's not a "flicker" per se.

You can flip it with proper form and lubrication, no problem...maybe even loosen the pivot if it's stiff. I tend to just open it with the spydie hole myself but sometimes I do flick it out...just for a bit of fun and to confirm my testosterone. lol

With the caly3 Cf I don't have a problem flicking with thumb or pointer finger. I close it one handed by pressing the lock with my thumb and letting the blade fall downward slightly then close it with my pointer on the jimping. I just do this over and over haha. Addicted.

I got lucky, I put the knife up for sale in this forum but came into a bit of needed money so I closed the thread (thank God)....I would have been so depressed to lose/sell the knife.

For me ease of use is the most important thing I look for in a EDC. My Benchmade 940 takes the cake there. With the axis lock I can open and close it easily in a slip second. It doesn't necessarily have to be fast. But if I have to do some awkward stretch or gymnastics with the knife to close it one handed then I find I just don't reach for it in the morning on my way out. I guess my right hand is just lazy haha.

The 940 is a sick knife. Never owned one but lovingly fondled one at a brick and mortar store. I was so impressed with the ergonomics, blade shape, scales and ease of deployment it was almost mine. Good choice!

It's still in my Amazon wish list.

Look around. You see one pop on on "that auction site" or in the Exchange section on the forum every once in a while in new or very good condition for like 120 bucks. In that case it's a steal. I do want a Caly though. ZDP is really cool. I have a ZDP Ladybug on my keychain.

Oh man I'm so sorry you lost the knife. I don't consider $170 knife an easily replaceable knife. Hope you find it or get one back.

Yeah, it was pretty heartbreaking, but it's been gone for over a year now, so I'm trying to accept it. “Damn ZDP chips, and those poky rivets, and…” :D

I had a Caly 3 with VG-10. Was very nice; I carried it for 3 yrs or so; gave it to my gd-daughter.
I finally picked up a blue Stretch with ZDP-189. Blade about 3.5" (nine cm). It has screw construction if I feel the need to take it apart, which I never do. It is known to be a great slicer, but then again, it sits NIB with a bunch of other NIB Spydies. The Stretch is a flat grind, which helps a lot. I love 'em; I just don't use 'em.
I usually carry a Sebbie and it's my do everything knife, although it's not nearly as sharp, although it could be if I'd use my EdgePro effectively. Both blades are 0.125", but the Seb is hollow-ground, so will never slice quite as efficiently as the Stretch.
I love the Spydies.

Love the Stretch, I was hunting the carbon fiber version (impossible) before the caly 3.5 CF zdp hit the market. I know I can still get one but everyone has their preferences and FRN wasn't going to do it for me. I so glad the knife is doing everything for you. Love the blade shape and length. Thumbs up!

Beautiful knife!
