It's 121/4 inches long, 1/4 inch thick 5160 (truck leaf spring) weighs 21 oz. and as I have no belt grinder was made mainly by hand filing and sanding. It took awhile. Moosemaster was kind enough to provide advice re: the saw. Hope you all like it: Howard

WOW ....that is awesome. You should be very proud of that knife.

I am curious, are all leaf springs 5160 steel ? I have a set of leaf springs from a '94 Jeep Wrangler that have been in my shop forever and I would love to start experimenting on those.

Hey McClint, this was my first attempt at posting pictures on a forum and I'm a bit confused, actually spent more time trying to get the pics up than I spent on the sheath. Not all leaf springs are 5160 but most likely those off a 94 jeep are.

Here you go, fixed the images for you.
Looks good btw, you did a great job

Hey ghostguy, thanks for fixing it for me, I had a hell of a time trying to post those pictures: Howard

Yup, I have a washtub forge I built, so I normalized 3 times then HT, then tempered in the oven three times.

That came out nice.

How did you cut the teeth? The last time I put teeth like that on the back of a knife I used a Dremel and jeweler's files.

That looks awesome! I too am curious, are you going to take orders for that?:D

Did the teeth with an 8 inch triangle file, took a bit of time, as far as making more, as I don't have a belt grinder this was very labor intensive and it wouldn't be cost effective to sell this the way I make them at this point. I just wanted to make one for myself. I do thank all of you for your kind compliments however, it makes me feel good: Howard

you can make a great looking knife...

posting pics is a diffrent story though

j/k
