I stumbled upon this maker while looking for new custom knife makers. I contacted him initially at the end of March 2014 but building a knife. We discussed a few things and just bs’ed over the phone about knives a few times thought I had a good feel for him as a person. Around April 4 I decided Keone is a cool guy and I could trust him enough to send him my hard earned money to. We had come up 3 or 4 Cad drawings, which I was going to choose from; I chose two (and later a third). On April 6 I sent Keone $800 and was told my knives would be done in 6-8 weeks but closer to 6 weeks. Then less than a week later he sent me another invoice for the remainder of the balance and texted me saying something like people who are paid in full are done faster, which blew my mind. I was shocked I just sent you $800 bucks for folders and I haven’t even seen one from you period and the things I have seen where mostly little tools and a few frikkies. I immediately called him and he ensured me that it wasn’t meant that way and just to pay the invoice when I got a chance. I wanted to have it paid off before they were down anyway so I sent him another $400. A few buddies thought I was crazy and thought that was a red flag (I guess they were RIGHT) but I give everyone the benefit so I give him a chance.

So Keone has a total of $1200 of my money and was expecting the knives in May latest early June. First two weeks of May come and go no knives and no updates or contact from Keone. Later in the month I get an email saying that he’ll get them to me in the beginning of June if he’s mill doesn’t break. Of course it does! The July I’m supposed to get them and that comes and goes, No real contact just a bunch of crap and excuses. And now were in August. Every month there’s at least two excuses why they aren’t done or way he can’t finish them. I ask for work in progress several times after he went over the 8week mark and received two picture of one knife cut out on the band saw and that took me three weeks to get. He says he can’t take pictures and email them because the files are too large.

One of the knives is supposed to be finished for a while now, I’ve been asking for pictures of it for about month nothing not even a cell phone picture. Nothing. His customer service went from awesome to nonexistent. I’ve talked to a few people who have dealt with him on building and they say they’ve experienced the same thing. Most say if it built one problem the problem is if you want something built. One guy who is going thru the same mess I’m going thru only it for a tool and he hasn’t been waiting as long.

I asked for my money back he replied that I’d have to pay for the materials I said ok heard nothing back on that. I’ve asked for my money back several more times since and still no response. Not trying to rant just want to document my experience. I totally understand that things happen I just think I would at least deserve a call or to be updated with the progress since it’s way over the time.

This has been a very frustrating experience I’ve dealt with a few makers where I paid a deposit or up front and never nothing like this. I tried to keep it short I could’ve went it to a lot more details as I have all the emails and such. I’ve been promised these knives will be done at least 4 times now. I have no idea what to do know

Wow. Amazing to me how some makers operate.

I hope things work out for you, and you get your money back ASAP.

As always, never pay for a knife up front!

It seems like a lot of the smaller guys request some money upfront to "Pay for materials". I think I should've done some research on this maker first. If I would've know that he's done this to others I obviously would've saved myself a lot of hassle. Also he's not really on any forums only Facebook and a Youtube, I think thats because he can delete your post and such. I hadn't heard from him in a month and I posted on his Facebook page "That it would be nice if he got back to his customer that paid him $1200 4 months ago and haven't recieved anything". He deleted the post and it doesn't allow me to post anymore.

"His customer service went from awesome to nonexistent. "

At what points was his customer service "awesome"? He went from pumping sunshine up your ass to screwing you over.

I've had one transaction with Keone and it will be my last. Buyer beware. After all was said and done, all I wanted to do was grab him by the throat and beat his ass. Unfortunately this punk is 3,000 miles away. Lesson learned.

Bleh... I hope no one thinks his company has anything to do with mine.

Sorry to hear about that. I hope it gets worked out.

I wouldn't worry too much about that. Keep things in perspective and remember you have to live up to the reputation you want to be known by. This other guy was a trainwreck of ignorance and complete disorganization.

I have also had a problem with tgk, keone omega, paid for two knives, he sent the first no problem. The knife I was having him make for me I still haven't seen. 10 months ago I ordered it and paid 300. When I initially talked to him he told me 30 days or less. Every email I sent inquiring he has always given an excuse and claimed to be almost finished. Recently I contacted him requesting a refund, no reply. As far as I'm concerned he is a thief. Do not do business with Keone Omega, Timberghost Custom Knives.

Sad to read this, and I feel the OP's frustration.

I have read many threads like this in the GBU, and the one consistent thing seems to be 'payment up front'.....

Thanks for the heads up on this maker.

Any updates or new reviews for this maker. Some of his small tools are interesting but I dont want to buy anything from him if his business practices haven't improved.

This isn't the first we've heard of Mr. Omega: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...t-Custom-Knives-Problem?highlight=timberghost

We don't advocate using craftsman members who are not current on their membership here.
We do however advocate doing your research in this forum and on the web, before sending someone your money.
I've left him a visitor message to address this issue.
Thanks for linking my thread. I never got a chance to respond to some stuff he posted there because it was locked.

He has done some pretty terrible stuff to a couple other guys. There is another thread on EDCSociety with a recap of his interactions on Facebook and a full recap of my experience.

He's still at it... Took a friend (instagram) for $1400.

Well, this past May I ended up sending this guy a good amount of money too. Never received the knife. I gotta say, when you first engage this guy, he is (seemingly) incredibly thoughtful and interested in giving you exactly what you want. Prior to payment, he would respond immediately. After payment, he would either never reply or he take many days to respond. The knife was supposed to arrive within 30 days of payment. As time passed, I would ask for updates. He would either never respond or, if he did respond, he would be very apologetic and make claims that he would be sending it right out. At one point, he event created a shipping label, but then never actually sent the knife.

I can verify our dialogue from the very start, if need be, by uploading pictures of my full instagram conversation.

Luckily, I paid him through PayPal and, this past week, PayPal gave me a ****FULL REFUND****!!!!

With a little organization a group of people could take turns posting links to this thread on Keone's facebook page.

Google does index this thread in search results for Keone Omega, so if someone had the inclination to do a simple search before sending a paycheck to this fellow, the information is there.

best
