My idea, how is it viewed by the community.

The biggest problem I've seen on youtube is that a video will start with a knife laying on the table and it will be 5 minutes into the video of nothing but boring talk before the guy even picks up the knife to do something with it. My other complaint is that the videos are often way out of focus when they want to show you something about the knife itself. I do look at youtube sometimes but I find more videos that are frustrating than ones that are informative.

There are good and bad videos there, no doubt. There are also other annoyances there too . My feelings are though that this forum is one of the if not the best spot for information gathering regarding knives. Keep everything here information wise and if you want add an additional link to somewhere like you tube after you do that. That also helps sort out those who only use BF to try to steer users to their you tube channel. The main thing though is I like having everything I need right here. Call me lazy.

Cool idea! Budget folders are appealing to me since I am a college student. :D
One thing that I would REALLY like in your knife reviews is if you made them short. Most knife reviews are like 15-20 minutes long, so I rarely have time to watch the whole thing. If you make your videos around 5 minutes or less I would be way more likely to watch them. Also, it would be REALLY awesome if you showed videos of the knife in different environments and being used. Most knife reviews spend the whole time with the knife on a table. I really wish that there were more field testing videos of knives. I don't know if you have the time or the energy, but it would be really cool if your videos were kind of like mini field tests. When I think about a knife I try to imagine what environments it would work well in and how it would perform tasks in that environment. When I am researching a knife I try to find pictures and videos but they are all just made on somebody's kitchen counter. I can't even find a single video of a Spyderco dragonfly salt being used on a boat or cutting water related objects.
Anyway, this is just my YouTube video wishlist. I don't know if it would be possible for you to do this stuff, but if you did I would be a big fan! It would also make your channel very unique. I don't know of anybody currently making videos like what I suggested.
Let us know when you get your first video up!

Some people like to watch videos, others don't. I like to watch them and make them. If someone doesn't say something interesting in the first minute, then I move on. If done right, a video can be very valuable.

I too like the idea, I agree with Da Thurmanator as well. maybe make 2 vids.... the reason why I suggest this is because most "reviews" lack a standardized method of testing, so maybe a vid to show the testing and give us your thoughts, and another truncated, or a highlight reel if you will...

I would try my best to do entertaining and useful information. Chances are my first few videos would leave something to be desired and I would need the feedback to know where I messed up and what to change.

I prefer reading about knives and looking at pictures here. I'm not much for you tube and tend to avoid things on it. Why talk about doing something on you tube here? Promoting your channel is about the only reason I can think of.

Sorry, not interested in you tube videos but I'd love to see reviews here, the correct place for them.

I agree. The reviews sound great...but written, and here. Honestly, if I wanted YouTube, I'd just go to YouTube.

And I believe there might be membership levels involved, and lproblems with conducting trades outside the proper forum.

Absolutely agree. Youtube is for looking for obscure music for me. Nothing could be more boring than watching some dude troll along about his opinion of a knife. I realize a lot of people are not into writing in complete sentences, but at least if there is nothing substantive I can just speed read the whole or part of it to see it's value.

There is a review and testing forum here, write out a cohesive and interesting review of a knife and I will probably read it. Make a video and I can pretty much guarantee I will skip it. It's a pretty crowded field.
