My inbound Dowell dog leg w/ironwood

Someone had posted another version of this model by Dowell not long ago that caught my eye. Now Jason shows up with one with some beautiful ironwood. Good stuff

I am pretty messed up on what they gave me for this stone. They have stuff in hospitals that turn your brain to mush, but I still know a nice looking knife that is begging to be carried. :D.

Congrats to both of you.

panchO See how, when closed, the back square edge of the blade folds under the bolster & is covered by it ?

Thats a sunk joint & pocket friendly

Thanks for clearing that up for me.

Yes, it does. From the top of the back spring to the pivot doesn't change on a "normal" or "sunk" joint knife. Hiding the back square/run up is a function of the depth of the handle from the pivot down. That's the tradeoff on a sunk joint...the tang gets dwarfed a bit.

It's a matter of aesthetics and I don't think it detracts from a knife as long as we understand what's going on there. I think the fit and finish on this knife is really excellent.:thumbup:

Thanks again Kerry, It is a nice knife as I said earlier, both maker and owner are to be congratulated on the knife. Aesthetics is a funny thing I guess, reason men like some women and others he don't, knives the same.. If you notice most Ole Sheffield knives when the joint is sunk they have the bolster rounded on the bottom to closely match the tang. I guess I under stand better now...

Lots of positive comments.....I'm glad because Bret deserves it. Of course this is torture to me because I don't have the knife yet. :D

Sooo nice! It should feel good in your pocket for many years to come. I too like the bolsters.

Here are some pictures I took today. The white spots on the wood don't look anything like this in person. The ironwood on this one is great. The pull is between 6 or 7....a little tighter than my sway back. It feels good.

3 3/8th closed and right about 6 open.
