Unfortunately, I've been down this road before. So, here's some unsolicited advice (remember what you paid for it, because that is probably what it is worth
): I'd wrap it as lightly as possible at night with clean "tender tape" (a breathable tape from Walgreens) and a healthy glob (sorry, it's a medical term) of Neosporin. Air helps healing and Neoporin is anti-bacterial and softens the wound (less pain).

Sorry about the cut...gotcha good. You are correct, the anesthetic injections suck, but let me tell you what sucks worse...when they miss an area and start auguring it with NO anesthetic. I had such a bad ER experience after a bad cut that the next time I got one- cutting the husk off a coconut with a serrated kitchen knife- that I refused the ER. Super glued it shut and taped it to a stick. Saved a big co-pay there.

I think there is a time limit of 12 or 15 hours that you can get stitches. After that time period, I don't think they will sow you up. It might depend on the wound, but you'll probably just have to deal with an uglier scar if you go without stitches.

Nice. I filleted the top of my thunb from the top of thethumbnail up to the knuckle. Got a good scar and the nail still doesnt grow out correctly. Blod clot stuff couldnt stop the bleeding. Please tell me you got a pic ok the knife with blood all over it. Heal up fast.
