My Intro and Knife DESIGN Freelancing

And make sure there is a way to open them... They are beautiful, hopefully someone who can help sees these.

For real. Especially those wharncliffe models in the second picture of the first post. Put a clip on that, make the blade 4", and I'm game.

Thanks for the compliments... Since you guys seem to like the wharncliffes I rendered some different variations for ya... A modern flipper with a push button lock and a gentleman's slipjoint with a long pull. Enjoy!

I just finished my final project for my basic CAD class and I thought I was good...
I love the gentleman slip joint with long pull.

Thank you! It's mostly the software that makes it look good. I highly recommend vray as your rendering engine. They make plug ins for rhino(what I use), 3d studio max, sketch up, and possibly some others, as I haven't been keeping up to date with their software compatibilities. It's all in the lighting and texture maps, and obsessing over the perfect angles...[emoji6]

Thanks for the tips. I've only used Autocad and creo Parametric. You could have all the CAD talent in the world and still design a garbage knife so kudos to you for designing something so awesome in your first attempt. I really hope you find a way to produce some of these, even if you have to compromise on some features like the screw construction.

Have you considering producing your own knives, I know Derrick Bohn outsources the production of his knives (Northwoods) to GEC and Queen. I'm unsure what their agreement is or if they would be willing to do limited runs. You could also work with a custom maker if you just wanted to see your design put into fruition but it is impossible to eliminate the makers style from your concept, while this works exceptionally in most cases for Lorien Designs, it may not be what you are looking for. From your introductory paragraphs, it seems like your only interested in the design aspect.

Thank you again... It really means a lot. The main reason I'm trying my hand at knife design is because my wife and I just had a baby boy that was born at 26 weeks... NICU for 78 days. So I'm trying to figure out a way to make up for one less salary...[emoji16]. I've been lurking around on the forums for the past year and the support and kindness shown by the members is pretty amazing. It's a great group to be a part of and the least that will come from this are friendships and friendly conversation... Here's a pic that might help put things into perspective... His name is Roman and he's a fighter. One day his name will grace the side of a knife that hopefully we all come to love and respect.[emoji2]

Congratulations on becoming a father. If you are partially financially driven, than perhaps my previous suggestions aren't very helpful.
