My Introduction to the Becker Family

Just starting out, I'm a knife knut through and through. Been looking to upgrade my collection and one of the definite knives that kept popping up on my radar was the Becker. So I started off small, biding my time and found a good deal on a Becker BK-11. It came wrapped with some green paracord, but I wasn't all that thrilled with the wrap, so I pulled that off, and I'm currently on the hunt for some scales. I don't REALLY want the tan scales but that seems to be all that I can find so I might go ahead and get them. Right now I'm at work and it is strapped to my leg and it feels REALLY comfortable there. I also have my Ka-Bar TDI strapped to my back and to be honest I'd rather have the Becker on my hip than my Ka-Bar.

Is there any one that is doing leather sheaths for the 11?

First we must have pics.
The scales can be dyed with RIT
Several folks make leather for them I think we have at least 3 Beckerheads that do.

Welcome to the forum.
A couple guys here do leather, and one of them, is pretty good.

Pictures can be arranged... Right now these are it. (Not sure if the Ka-Bar counts as part of the Becker family or vice-versa)

More like Beckers are apart of the Kabar family, but its cool, without Kabars, we wouldn't be havin' this forum or BKT knives.

I love Kabars, Beckers, and all knives. I got a JAB folder sitting next to me as I type this.

:D

While deciding on sheath options, I decided to take the paracord from the neck part and braid it to make a belt loop... I saw someone else do it in one of the pictures, I don't remember who it was, but thank you for the idea!

It's the HTC Incredible 2... Pretty nice. I had to get the better case for it though, with the backwards clip. I work in a kitchen and it is always getting knocked on something.

I'm already looking at the 7... It's a beautiful knife. I only make it out camping once or twice a year now. It makes it hard to rationalize spending the money for the knife. However I know as soon as I actually handle one I'm gonna spend the money for it.

Scales on my little 'uns... BK-14 on the left (Sh@rp scales). BK-11 on the right (Ka-Bar micarta).

Just found this old pic.
Izula II on top.
14 with the ESEE micarta. Not as good as Sh@rp's scales.
Cord wrap on the bottom that leaves the bottle opener functional.

I just found Sh@rp's email address... Sent him an email about the scales. I'm hoping he has some for the 11, but I get the feeling it's only the 14 :crushed:

I think he's been busy with his real job. He hasn't been around here for a bit. He seems to make scales as he gets the time. I don't think he ever made any for the 11. He started with the Izula, I believe. I pm'd him, asking if he made any for the 14. He didn't at the time, but later did.

If not, It's alright. I like supporting fellow forumites when I can. I understand when it's part of a passion and it isn't the primary occupation it is harder to find the time to do it.
