My Izula and Can I join the Rat Pack

I have enjoyed reading your threads here in Rat Kingdom.

Below is a picture some of you may have seen already. My Izula with Phillip Dobson African Ebony handles.

I would love to join your Rat Pack if I'm worthy?

Bill

Hello Bill
To become a member you must do one last task; with only the use of your mind body and rat knife, You Will Kill Bert.
Return with his unibrow, and your a member of the 'TheWilltoPower.'

Pretty, but why strip the coating?

I believe the handle is stripped so the wood could be solidly epoxied and the wood could be sanded after epoxied without worring about the coating. It makes it all feel like one piece. Phillip ask me if it was a problem for me before he continued. Since wood and metal have a clear finish over them I'm not worried about any rust.

It truly is a beautiful piece and Phil done a great job.

Welcome my fellow Ohioan! It's great to have you here!

I like the wood on your Izula.

Thanks Dale,

AND thank you for the great price and great service on the Izula. That's right I bought it from you. Minus the wood of course. Always happy to support my local dealers when I can.

Thanks for the warm welcome.

Anxiously awaiting RATs take on it...OD on OD I hope

Before I had the work done, I sent Jeff a email asking if RAT had any handles yet. Jeff said they were in the works and should be out soon. As a final email to him I sent the picture I posted here. I didn't save the email but I do remember him replying favoribly.

I need to figure out how to quote more than one person in a reply?

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome.

There is a button next to quote. You click that in each of the posts you would like to quote people from (it will light up orange I believe). On the last person hit quote and all the quotes will be there in the typing field.

love the handles. totally different knife compared to all the izula's with paracord (y)

I've been a member of CPF for 3 years and have made over 1400 posts and didn't know that. Talk about feeling kind of stupid.

Thank Mrs. Shotgunner. That was easy.

Bill

EDIT: The bright side now that I think about it, is I need 25 posts anyway. Didn't do it on purpose but, what the heck.

Like the wood. I would like to make some that were removable. I can't seam to find the hardware I want to use.

I thought about removable also. However I wanted something solid and rugged. In the field I didn't want to have to worry about screws coming loose or worse just plain old loose handles. This knife including the handles are rock solid and it feels great in the hand.

I'm sure whatever handles RAT comes out with will be comfortable and I may purchase another Izula just for the RAT handles. I'm sure they will be removable since you will have to put them on at home.

You may want to just wait and see what RAT releases.

Can't wait for RAT to offer grips for the Izula ... in micarta, I hope!

Jeff

Last I saw they will be Micarta. I am waiting myself. I am to the point now that I hate trying to clean paracord or replacing it. Both my Izula's will probably get new slabs.
