I put Heathshrink on the handle(ranger band is for sissies, heath shrink is the real deal :p). I wasnt happy how it finished so decided to redo it. While removing it with siccors i hold the sheath with my left hand with the thumb up. We all know what happens then. One moment off guard and izzy struck. Knife popped out it left a cut of 6-7mm by 15mm. Not deep but wide enough to bleed like i was being sacrificed.
I just got my new spydy Double stuff and was trying it on my work izula before all this. That was one sharpening job well done if i may say so myself.
The pics are a bit crappy but bare with me. It are day after shots. Last night it was either bleeding like hell or i was keeping pressure to prevent bleeding.
Now the photo's;

Again? Will that ant ever stop?

no doubt, I've seen too many posts in the past month or so of people getting bit by their knife. maybe it ought to turn into a what-would-you-do series of if you get bit by your knife in the wilderness, and there is no doctor's office or super glue around....

Interesting article about this sort of thing:

Phew! Looks a tad swollen there too...

Interesting on the tree sap.. that is a really cool piece of knowledge to have now! Thanks tarditi

That's one mean ant bite! I would like to see how the heat shrink project came out...

if you finished it that is....

I need to add "Izula Bite Club Member" to my sig line.

Holding the sheath and the knife popping out of it is the dangerous part. That's how I got my bite and how many others have. If you pull on it just a little it won't pop out, but once you put some strength behind it it has enough energy to A) pop out of the sheath and B) lacerate you like there's no tomorrow.

This is why I have taken all my knives down to butter knife sharpness. :D

That's a nasty bite.
It looks like it's beginning to smell a bit like almonds!!!

Does anyone remember what movie the blue is from?

They need to make a variation if the Izula patch - make an option with bloody mandibles.

Cutting your fingers like this bleeds like hell, so heal up fast and keep enjoying your Izula!

Yes.. The Izula can get hungry at times when you least expect it! By the way... The Advanced ESEE Survival Kit contains gauze w/ Haemostatic Clotting Agent, suturing material & a needle.;)
