My JS Test knives

Here are my JS test knives. I have been nervously trying to get these finished. Now I can just be nervous about the judging.

The funny marks on the blade are traces of wd-40 that I apparentely did not get fully whiped off of the blade. It has a nice hand rubbed satin finished blade. The fittings are nitre blued mild steel and nickel silver while the handle is walrus ivory. The blade is forged from 1080 steel. The handle construction is a through tang with a threaded pommel nut.

This one has an etched blade with a active hamon. There is a faint ghost hamon above the main also, I believe there is a Japanese term for this but I am unsure what it is. The second photo shows the hamon better. Fittings are Nitre blued mild steel with an african blackwood handle. The handle construction is a hidden tang. The blade is froged from 1080.

This knife features a blade of forged W2 with a coin edged nitreblued guard and a nickel silver spacer. The handle construction is a nickel silver framed handle with walrus ivory.

This fighter is forged from 1084 with a mortised tang handle construction. The guard is nickel silver and the space is copper.

The last knife is forged from W2 with an etched blade finish. The guard is nickel silver with a red spacer. The handle is black ivory. The handle construction is hidden tang.
 
Darn good looking knives, I really that big bowie. I believe the Japanese term for the "ghost" hamon is utsuri. Good luck on your test ;)

I like the small one myself, but the big Bowie has real class.

Very nice group Craig - the ivory-handled bowie is particularly stunning. Methinks you have nothing to worry about. :D

After the testing, what would you take for the fighter? If you were to sell it, of course.

:eek: :eek: Oh my... that one with the African blackwood and wild hamon... oh, man, it's just begging to join my collection... All's I can say is it's fortunate for me I can't make the Atlanta show... I'd be broke before I even got there!! :D
Craig, I've watched your work for a little while now and I think you've made the leap to the big leagues! Terrific work!
 
They look great, especially knife number two. I figure that after Blade you will be joining the ranks of the Journeyman Smiths of the ABS.
 
The handles on #2 and #3 are outstanding. I like the little guy too.

Stop worrying Craig they look great! Fantastic styling! Im at 27 M See ya there. Like most knives I bet the pictures dont do them justice either.
