I just tried that with my chive and it did the same thing. It would be interesting to see if that is part of the design.
I also had to give more effort to disingage than when it locks on it's own.
I can see where that would be handy for more demanding use. I normally use a SOG Flash with a combo blade for the "dirty" jobs. I don't want to mess up the pretty rainbow finish on my chive.
(I know, it's a "chick" thing!)
I have used the little knife sometimes when it was easier to get to than the other one on dirty jobs such as in my garden, etc., and it takes a little bit of abuse very well.
