shes interested in the 18.5" villager chainpuri... do you guys have any recommendations lol

Amazing collection is such a short time Jimmy! When I started collecting 3 whole years ago there were two handle types, horn and satisal. Later collectors have the blessing of all this variety, but sometimes miss the older models. But you have done really well, with a Super Salyan, that finger groove WWII, and scoring a Tin Chirra must have been quite an accomplishment. I sold one last year for a premium as they are pretty hard to find.

You also have done really well in not getting dupes; I tended to get multiples of my favorite models, only to end up selling quite a few of them off later. Still, Balances and BGRS's are my favorites.

I don't have a backwards blade yet, or a Dukti, a D-1 or an 18" CAK, or several others you have. A 25" Ganga Ram? Now that's a new one on me, as I thought I knew them all. Special order, or an oldie? Or just one DOTD I missed?

Thanks for sharing.

I'd suggest something maybe a little smaller. 18.5" seems a little bigger than most gals could swing easily for an extended period of time.
If you have that many knives maybe she knows what she's getting into and I'm wasting my time!

by next year you mean two weeks, right? as in they're in the mail?

ww2 w/ finger grooves? they make that? you have that? go get your camera, please, i must see this.

also, of the KH models, the Bahadur is kinda cool.

i maintain that you are sick and twisted. still that is a collection worthy of envy. so's a fiance who would see all this and be willing to buy you another for christmas. remember these times.

thank you thank you everyone....
let this be an example of what can be accomplished in a period of 3-4months :)
theres no cure for HIKV!!! im working on finding one though... so i can sell to sharks to buy more khuks lol :D

by next year yes i mean next month ;)
the wwII w/finger grooves should be in my hands by then  private seller... custom iirc.
i will post pics when i get it hehehe :D

yeah i tried not to get duplicates of models... VERY VERY HARD THING TO DO!!! lol
sometimes i have to force myself to walkaway smoking half a pack of cigarettes just to avoid it :foot:
regarding the 25" ganga ram... it was custom and from a private seller norm :)

sounds cool. I saw koster put some sweet grips with subhilts on an AK bowie, real jaw dropper. i'm pretty sure i want a HI straight sword, tibetan or kitanna. so if/when you tire of yours or you need some cash, lemme know.

tell her to wait for the foxy, that's what she really wants. don't settle...or you could be a loving fiance and give her yours.

Thanks Jimmy. I figured that. I have a 24.5" GR in antler, and BigJim (late of this forum) had a mate to it in neem that was really nice. It's a good idea to pay attention to the weight on the older ones.

I know Uncle Bill launched the Super Salyan in 1999, about 4 years before I showed up, and felt that they came in way too heavy. Rusty had one that was 20", and Yvsa had one that at just over 18" weighed 56 oz! and that was about normal for the model.

When the memorial salyans came in I think they were much closer to the look and weight of what Uncle Bill had had in his mind. Still, they are a rare and unique HI item, and I wouldn't want to be standing in the way of one!

she wants something to claim her own... she told me she will keep on viewing DOTD and when she sees something she likes *swoop* its going to be hers :)

yes the super salyan is super heavy... should be in my hands next month :)
im also getting an 18" ak in the 5lb. range :p ... definitely not suitable users but fun to have :o

also, thanks agian norm for the memorial salyan... i will treasure it forever.

That's some collection you have there Jai. About 3x the size of mine, I guess I have some spending to do...

I really like that 21" foxy that you picked up. The larger FF always had me drooling.

Wow! I never noticed how much there was! I guess I lost track of what Jimmy had and the cost. Haha.

18.5" isn't that big. Compare to what Jimmy has at home, 18.5 seems small. Hehe. Well I'm just going to wait until I find something that I really like. Of course this is going to be my first khukuri purchase. So I'm going to wait until I find one that's suitable for me.

Thanks!

thank you skyler, i have gotta say though...
thanks to your reivews and beautiful pics... you inspired me to purchase many of the models you own!!! :D

yes i was very lucky to snag that 21" foxy...
im sure if i didnt grab you would have in a heartbeat :)

I enjoy doing the reviews. It gives me a chance to go out and do some chopping. If any of my reviews converted someone into a kukoholic, then my job has been filled. ;)

Maybe I will be able to get you to buy a few more...at least 3 more reviews will be coming in the next few weeks.

I would of loved to of grabbed that FF, but I probably didn't have the money at the time. Perhaps I can sell off a few swords to expand my kukri collection.

ohhh man your reviews are awesome skyler... please dont ever stop :)
i still think they should be stickied... infact, i still read them from time to time :D
i also show them to my co-workers and finally one has been convinced that he needs a a khukuri lol...
we now look at DOTD's together sometimes at work but he hasnt bitten yet :p

where'd this 21" foxy come from? a dotd or the exchange? insomnia sucks.

the exchange forum private sellers... :)
(sorry, im not sure if i am allowed to link ads from the exchange here... so happy sharking)
be warned though... second hand khuks dont carry the HI warranty
caveat emptor... test it well when you buy it or buy it to collect it
but i wouldnt worry about it much... HI khuks are damn near bullet proof :D

yeah, i know. People were buyin the knives, would sell em at loss, then some dirtbag would bust it for a refund of the original buying price to make some cash. thus was born the HI non-transferable warranty. keepin that in mind, though, you'd know that if it wasn't for dirtbags they would be guaranteed for the life of the knife, and that's about as good since you know it aint the knife's fault. eh? eh?

must find pics of these large foxy's.
