I will say this. If that knife were mine, I would take some kind of measures (WD-40, CLP, Flitz, etc.) to stop the corrosion. Otherwise, you're going to have a lump of rust eventually.
Your Camillus knife is a model #5679 fixed blade knife that was made for the Army Air Force during WWII. This knife features a 5" glazed blade, brass guard, aluminum butt and leather handle. 75,000 were produced.
Thanks for the info I have always wondered about this knife I will use it with more pride. I did carry it while I was in the Marines 75-79 non combat but it worked very well for me.
