Interesting. I was eyeballing one for the warden and the techi told me that 25% of lap tops die within three years. My bet is that a lot go to Valhalla by being dropped.
 
one of those google netbooks would be awesome for the price for commuting and 99% of web work.

but if you NEEEEEEEEED a PC, well, nothing else will do.

for more $$$ the mac book airs are very nice. used, not bad.

Oh, I can phone type, but if you look at my post count, I tend to need to move faster than my phone typing skills will allow.

Tapatalk, I, know, but I could just imagine what would be posted then. :D

I got my IT nerds doin' their thing, as, it would seem that this is something out of my very wide range of PC repairs. Even with the OS original disk, I'm gettin' nothing.

Real funny thing, I got a new fiber connection this weekend, so, now I'm rockin' 50M down, and 35M up, and my PC fried. Lady has been wanting a laptop, so I might just get a couple of netbooks, or maybe a couple of tabs. I won't get anything but droid OS, so, we'll see.

Right now, I got my work desktop, so.....

Yeah, I understand that. I could be a lot faster on a laptop, but I can take my phone everywhere.

I got a new Samsung Infuse 4G two weeks ago, and I'm in love. It rolls with me too, but I just use it to check in and maybe make a couple of posts with.

I hate seeing these folks (guys I work with) that are constantly on their phone, thumb typing. Shit drives me crazy. I had to fire a guy a couple of months ago because he was always on his phone, and not working. Constantly.

I like access, but I don't have to have it all the time. I like to sit back and relax, and enjoy my time on the forums, instead of trying to type a post and order food at Arby's. I showed my ass last week because of a guy doing that. Line was backed up and he was steady punchin' away on his phone, telling the lady behind the counter, to hold on a minute, lemme finish this. So, I flew red, made a big scened, and shamed the guy out of my way. I hate having to do that. I do the same thing to lottery ticket scratchers that wanna "win" right there where the register is.

I feel your pain moose - this laptop isn't dead yet but it's coughing up blood. Was able to stretch a bit more life out of it (quite a bit, actually) by moving from Windows to Linux but its days are numbered.

My laptop died 2 weeks ago. Dead hard drive. Called tech support...3 days left on my 1 year warranty! They mailed me a new hard drive.

Check out the Asus Slider tabs. You get your keyboard and your Android tablet. I'm probably going to be picking one up before too long here for use around the house and while traveling. I'm thinking a tablet will be perfect for occupying the 6-year old on our trip from WI to TX and back for Christmas.

Well, the verdict is in. Hard drive is dead. Dead, dead. Working on file retireval right now, but other than that, she's toast.

Looks like I'm in the market, tablet, netbook, or new laptop.

Damn.

Moosez45, sorry for your laptop woes. Glad to hear you are connected still with your phone. I hope you find something you like.

Speaking of emails, I sent you one over there about what you were looking for.

Moose I have had 2 laptops die on me in the last few years. One went just like yours. The other, I wasn't sure what was wrong with it so did a F disc and reformatted. It never loaded up again. So, lest year I grabbed an eMachine netbook for 279 at Walmart and haven't looked back. Works like a charm. I usually use the PC in the office but when I am lazing around in the bedroom and want something portable it fits the bill. That, with my android and tap-a-talk is about all anyone would need. Both bunk laptops were HP. Won't be purchasing another one, that's for sure.
 
Funny thing, mine did the same....looking at an iPad now...I FEEL YOUR PAIN!
