Tomarrow I go under the knife for a hernia fix on my right side. No more moving cabinets by myself. While I cant work in the shop for a week I thought I would give away some of my handle materials mostly wood. I have a whole drawer of it and would split it up between two lucky semi-new makers. It is good stuff like ironwood, cocabolo, ebony, micarta. I had some of it stabilized by WSSI and all of this stuff will make a great handle. If You are truly interested just email me and I can shoot you a picture of the drawer. Be sure to tell me why you deserve it. The price is just the shipping cost which I will need first.

That's a big plus for the newer makers Bruce, and a darn nice thing to do.

Good luck tomorrow. As alwayys, our prayers and best wishes are with you.

Good luck tomorrow, Bruce. Best wishes for a quick recovery!

Bruce, Wish you a speedy recovery! Hope they remove the right thing.

Where's the cut off for being a new maker?

Bruce take it easy
i hope you heal fast

so i have to ask this are you going to make sure they use a Sharp knife on you ? just being a wise guy sorry i couldnt help myself

It's a good thing your doing Bruce, hope everything heals up, take it easy for a while though.

Ouch! Hope you heal up quick. That's a mighty fine gesture for some new makers. :)

Thanks for all the kind wishes and prayers. I do hope she uses a sharp knife but will bring one just in case.

I think I have my 2 makers. Just need to price the postage and send them off.

Bruce: The second day is the worst. You walk around like a little old lady and to get out of bed is a real treat. Are they doing the balloon trick and two slits one on the belly button and another one just below?????

Thanks again for more quick recovery wishes.

IG I didnt think to ask. She sure is cute surgeon I hope she does play with my belly button.

OK I think I have enough emails about the wood giveaway. Wish I had more to go around, We have some new makers that could use some nice materials.

Yes - a wonderful offer. Congrats to the recipients. I've given out handle stuff to others before, but never stabilized stuff. :o You sure the meds aren't getting to ya, Bruce? Just kiddin.....:footinmou

Come on now! This isn't THAT serious of a procedure! A bladesmith giving away part of the handle material they've been hording is like a normal person organizing their will  ;)

Seriously though, best wishes on the surgery and recovery, we'll be praying for you.
And nice going helpin out the new guys with some wood

God Bless you and the surgeon Bruce!!!!

While I cant work in the shop for a week I thought I would give away some of my handle materials mostly wood.

Another graceful move by an outstanding individual!!!!

When I first saw the title of this thread, I thought you found a surgeon who gave free wood with every hernia operation! :D

Best wishes for a speedy recovery, Bruce! ;)

Two of my co-workers had hernia repairs. Both healed up what I thought as rather quickly. One guy had three done at once! He was hurting for awhile.

Giving away some of your wood is a very nice gesture. And I'm sure will be greatly appreciated by the recipients.
