My last from 2010, and my first in 2011 - Pictures added

The steel on that short sword(?) is fantastic Philip. Very nicely defined and extremely well patterned. Both pieces are just extremely clean and well executed.

Thanks for the comments thus far. Here's the picture of the last one from 2010, as promised. I think Coop did a great job, as usual. :)

Absolutely Love the blade/grinds, and especially the damascus pattern. Very well executed.
Just curious though as to your decision to use micarta for the handle as opposed to a premium wood or ivory?

Condsidering the lanyard hole and micarta, perhaps the owner is going to put this piece to hard use, otherwise to me this beautiful blade screams for a more upscale handle treatment.

Hi Kevin,
I was wondering who would be the first to mention the micarta handle. Congratulations, you're it. :D

This blade is actually the first blade I made to use for this piece:

But when I ground the grooves for the butterfly pattern, I didn't continue them far enough along the blade, so the pattern stops short of the ricasso. I set this blade aside and started over.

So, basically, this blade is a "second". I decided to put a "cheap" handle on it, and sell it for a reduced price.

Thanks for the question, and thanks everyone else for your comments. :)

Extraordinary blades on the two short swords Phillip. Interesting to see the plain Micarta after the fancy Ironwood and pommel version. The Damascus shines in both settings.
