That thing is awesome! Love the style, and the fit and finish looks top notch. Really can't beleive that it's only your 6th knife though. You've either got some experience in a similar craft, or your off to a hell of a start

Thanks guys for the nice complements :D

Matt, Yep this is only my 6th knife. Although I did make several fixed blade kits before grinding my own blades. unfortunately I can't make near as many as I would like. Only being able to spend a couple hours every couple of weeks on them. I am a craftsmen, being a hand engraver by trade for 27 years. I am fortunate to have some very nice friends that are awesome blade smiths and stock removal guys they have been very helpful and encouraging, and are always there to answer my silly questions.

Well just keep doing what you're doing :D
I really do like this knife. The engraved trim really sets it off, without being over the top.

That is really a great looking knife. From the sounds of it this knife was made by the stock removal method, is this correct. If at this time you do not forge, are you planning on doing so in the future?

Thank you very much. I hope to continue to improve with each knife I make. I
wish there where more hours in the day.
Keith, Yes this is stock removal. I started with a 1/4" x 2" piece of 5160.
I am looking forward to the day I can get into some forging. I would love to try it.
Thanks, Darren

Very nice bowie indeed - I look forward to seeing number 7, 8, 9....

Darren that is an incredible knife! I was about to ask who did your engraving when I figured out who it was that was posting the message!

Beautiful work to say the least.

Thats one heck of a knife and great for only number 6, I like everything about it, good job

Thanks so much guys for the support!

RGRAY. Yes I did make a sheath. Here is a picture, not a good one, but one none the less. It's a Mexican loop with a sterling hand engraved tip to match the knife.

Thanks MadCap. I do appreciate it.
I really enjoy making the sheaths. I find it to be very relaxing.
I started making things from leather to occupy myself when a quit
smoking. Before I started making knives I was making Planes style Quivers
for myself and some friends that are into Primitive Archery.
Thanks

Absolutely first-rate workmanship and style. Thanks for sharing this piece!

Okay, here's a newbie question about the sheath; please excuse my ignorance, but as they say, if you don't ask, you don't learn....

Is there a practical purpose for that horizontal strap across the blade portion of the sheath, or is it there just for looks?
