My Latest Arrival - BM M390 AFCK with family

Rev, if that doesn't work then shoot me a PM. I had this problem on a couple of my Native 5's, and I found a very easy way to work around it.

I have found that the most common issue that makes a clip not stay secure is the surface area of the material underneath the clip. No matter how tight the screws are, if there isn't much surface area under the clip for it to have friction on then the clip will move. It's possible that the machining on the scales is leaving little surface area for the clip to "grab" on
to. I could be totally wrong, but it's worth a shot. :)

Thanks CTS, I took the stonewashed and the DLC apart last night. The DLC clip screws have a slightly larger diameter because of the coating. It turns out the liner was tapped a bit too large and the screws spin when snugged. It's going back at some point along with an older minigrip for a reblade.
Oddly enough, I thought about what you suggested and I whipped out the calipers and the scales are roughly the same thickness as are the liners on both models. Tolerances measured were within .0004".

Charlie,

Interesting outcome. At least you can return it knowing it has an issue that can't be "adjusted" and it sounds like you can retain the blade too. Good news in a small way . . .
