Could you email me at tfineis-at-gmail-dot-com so I can send you this quick question? It would help a lot.
TFin, do you have another e-mail address other than gmail?, gmail is a haven for spammers, once, a few months ago at work, i responded to a customer using a gmail account, and thet afternoon, my work e-mail, which had up to that point been spam-free, was *swamped* with spam within 24 hours, that customer was the *only* one i corresponded with via e-mail that day....

either gmail shares e-mail lists with spammers, *or* his e-mail got hit by a spammerbot, and since i was in his address book, i got clobbered as well, since then, i'm hesitant to correspond with gmail email addy's, and it's one of the reasons i have my e-mail address hidden....

personally, i *loathe* spam, but the only thing that can stop spammers at this stage is judicious use of high-yield nuclear weapons....

free advice, when you post your email address in a forum, try to disguise it, as forums are targets of e-mail harvesting spiders (no relation to Spyderco, Spyder skiwear, Spider-Man, or the common arachnid going by the colloquial name of "spider", all rights reserved, substansial penalty for early withdrawl, some side effects may occur, use mileage for estimates only, member FDIC....) ;)

for example;

eatfecesanddiescumbagspammers@bitemespammers.com *could* be harvested by a spam spider, wheras;
eatfecesanddiescumbagspammers-at-bitemespammers-dot-com would *not* be harvested, and any web-savvy forumite would know to replace the -at- and -dot- with the appropriate e-mail characters....

why not open a thread in the community forum and i'll take a look?

I can do that.

I've had gmail for quite some time now and I love it. The best free service I've ever had, and I've used about 10 different companies. I think that particular person may have had a spambot or something.

I'll put a thread up in the community forum, thanks.

It's funny, the threads i've been reading about CPM-440V/S60V steel had me *dreading* sharpening this knife, i've read horror stories how it didn't want to take an edge, or taking forever, the upside of course being it's legendary ability to *hold* that edge....

i tested the blade today, it still felt factory sharp, but it wasn't as sharp as i like it, so i busted out the Sharpmaker, prepeared to spend a *long* time putting a scary-sharp edge on this blade....

after 10 passes on the brown rods (5 corner, 5 flats), it had an incredibly sharp utility edge, so i performed the same 10 passes on the white rods, and it came out with a *scary sharp* edge, i gave it a quick stropping, and the Chinook cut *card stock* as effortlessly as my thinner blades cut *paper*

i'd daresay the CPM-440V steel actually sharpened *easier* and faster than my VG-10 and CPM-S30V Spydies....

the Chinook is one *monster* of a cutter, thanks to it's nice, meaty blade and reasonably thin grind profile (hollow-ground, IIRC?)just on a whim i picked up an empty toilet paper tube and rested the knife on the top, put *slight* pressure and pulled to start the cutting action....

ZZZZZIIIP!, cut right through both walls of the tube like it was cutting *air*

the more i use this blade, the more i'm liking it's pure, simple approach to cutting.....the "brute force" approach.....
