My latest- the ZT 0500!

Just got an 0500 today, and the nerd in me wants to say if Darth Vader had need of a folder, this would be it!

Very smooth action!

One of my favorite things about the knife so far is the sound it makes when you open and close it.

I love my custom Mudd and it makes the same sounds... it's the detent pin and locking pin engaging a plate under the button... i think ;)

Someone mentions W&W and Jay in this thread as a good source for ZT knives, may I ask what the full name is or for a link to a web site? Thanks

yeah, NOT a button lock... in a nutshell (that's probably not clear;), the "button" is more of a "switch" that slides 2 ways to move a plate that engages a detent and lock pin on the tang. I haven't seen a picture, but I guess that the detent pin engages a shallow slot in the plate that allows it to be opened without the switch. The lock pin goes deeper, requiring you to use the switch to clear the pin for closing the knife.

and they really are different because of their size. You could almost carry a small and a large, but I don't have a 500 right now ;(. Anyway, there aren't really too many of these coming out of Kershaw... so it's nice to hear feedback. How do you like it now after a day or two?????

Not sure if "button lock" is would cover the description. It is activated by a button, but I believe the "Hawk Lock" is a patented feature owned by Grant and Gavin Hawk. A very detailed explanation of their lock design and why they chose to design it this way can be found here:

A very interesting and informative read. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the link. That cleared things up for me.

I was the fifth WnW regular in last monday and snagged #321, have played with it now for a week and am quite impressed with the 500 ( I still think its kind of fugly, but then i like fugly blades)

Nobody has mentioned that the 500 "waves" with the right draw, ( not as good as an Emerson/Spydie/CS AK 47) but it waves none the less, am currently eyeballing the thumb disc opposite the lock for a "super wave" addition, one torx, a bit of metal bashing/dremmelling and badabing something that waves as good as a proddy knife.

I uhhh.... kind of went through all the boxes so I could get the lowest serial # when he had all 10 :o. I don't know why, just wanted the low one. The highest # was 354, so it probably doesn't matter in the long run. But Jay said it was okay (all right, he didn't say anything when he saw me doing it). That's the great thing about his store. Even if you're not a regular, he'll let you choose between several examples of the same knife if time and stock allow.

Wow thanks to cutter17 for pointing me in the right direction to find this forum! I am now even more excited in getting my new ZT0500 .. Can't wait I will add my experience also when it arrives.. Looks like a winner though from these post!
