Nice looking knife. What are the speckles on the handle? The hollow pins are interesting. Could you have maybe taken the shaft of a Q-tip or something similar and inserted into the tubes while you worked the handle then pushed them out later?
I will start off by saying I really like it. I like the shape and the materials. I think you did a great job. I do agree that I would have used something other than hollow pins. Some small stainless or NS pins would have looked better. You could fill them with black tinted epoxy. Other than that it's spot on and very user friendly looking.
The specks are dried wax I believe. I got the holes cleaned out after I waxed it and finished everything. I was thinking more along the lines of deer blood or other nastiness 😝
That's only the 4th leather sheath I've ever made I think.
I like that. Good flowing lines and a nice clean grind. Something a little bit unusual on the bolsters which is a good thing in my book. Bonus points for the sheath!
I really like it too. An easy way to fill them would be with carbon fiber rod and a bit of epoxy or super glue. The rods can be found at model/hobby shops.
Thanks everyone! I found some small stainless tig wire I had and it fits thru the holes perfect. Think I'll make sorta a bullseye pin with the two next time around.
Nick, Those pins are small enough to just punch out with the appropriate punch and re drill to the next larger size of pin. Nickel silver rod stock or brass would look nice on this fine knife. Larry
