Hey all it has been a while since I have actually finished anything new and exciting, but here it is. It is almost done, I am just debating on wether or not to add some ferrels. What do you think? Sorry about the bad pictures.

The Specs:

Overall Length..........20.50 inches
Blade Length............14.75 inches
Blade Width..............1.18 inches
Blade Thickness........0.29 inches
Grip Material.............African Blackwood
Weight.....................1.5 pounds

Blade Pattern - Four bar twist interupt offset core with high density laminate edging.

Gaurd and Pummel - Pure Nickel and C1095 and high density laminate.

The blade on this one was made to have a different pattern on each side. Where there are straight sections on one side, the opposite side is twisted. Each of the four core bars contain 9 layers of C1095 and 15N20 and the edging is 153 layers of C1095 and 15N20. The same high density laminate was used in the gaurd and pommel along with some pure Nickel and C1095 twist.

Let me know what you all think, good or bad.

Not a whole lot that you can say about that one....except ...breath taking

The steel would be enough but the workmanship is beautiful.

Hey thanks guys, I appreciate it. She is not done yet. I am still messing around with the handle. I have had some input from CKD about the gaurd looking too thick. What do you think about that? Some may be attributed to my poor photography skills, but I can see their point.

I updated the pictures above with some better ones and I have a couple more for you to look at.

The first one is the same straight tapered handle but I added some sterling silver ferrules.

The second picture is the new handle I have roughed out and I am debating if it helps to make the gaurd flow better. I am also trying to decide if I want to add ferrules to this one or leave it plain.

Are the silver ferrules too bright for the knife?

Your honest opinions are needed to help me make this knife a real "keeper."

Thanks again, now lets hear it. ;)

Very nice!!!!! I personally like the thicker guard and the pattern is really beautiful. The handle on the second picture is my favorite but I think a little more embellishment would be good. That blade is about the coolest one that I have seen.

wow that is great man i wish i could make knives like you!!!! i agree that the handle needs something more but sometimes i overdo things.i would puton a marble spacer or something of the sorts......

but i say that it is a sweet knife!

Funny you should say that. I was just lookingin my "junk" drawer and pulled out some jade and was thinking the same thing you were about putting in some stone spacers.

Hmmm, I'll have to think about this for a bit.

Beutiful, I agree that the gaurd looks thick, but the bottom handle pic realy helps, maybe it with ferrules, don't know but definatly like the thicker handle with that gaurd.

What ever you decide, that is one awsome blade!

"New and exciting" doesn't even do it justice, fella! Absolutely beautiful isn't close enough, either. I like the spacers combined with the guard and cap. I would certainly like to see what jade spacers would look like on that knife. I still remember that great jade handled knife you made. Who COULD forget it?

wow, you think you can convince one of our boys to carry that thing in iraq? i'd be a great deterrent!

Dang Sean, everything you do is magic! That's absolutely beautiful. It has a very Sutton Hu sort of look to it that rings all my bells. As for the handle, I like the first version the best though maybe it could be more of a handful? That much steel needs something to hang onto... ;) Jade spacers might be pretty but I'm not sure they'd fit the millieu of the blade? Just my thought, this is your project and you do seem to know what you're doing... :D Zowie!

I wouldnt change a thing about this one.....It looks great!!! Maby on the next one with the jade or something, but not on this one. Looks to good the way it is. Hell! I'll just go ahead and say it. "THAT's one damn good looking knife....how much?

First of all DAMN! that's sweet

My thinking on the handle is, you do not want it to detract from the wonderfull work on the blade.

The eye should be drawn to the blade first.
The thick guard, or use of Jade would turn the eye from the blade, and that's main attraction of this knife.
My .02*

The steel and overall look is killer. I certainly would not take away from that! I feel the guard is a little thick ,maybe some domed pins in the handle? I hope you post pics of the sheath.
