My Latest - Viking Style Dagger - Almost Done

were u going for historical acuracy? cause if u wer i think u should take a few history classes looks great tho!
Little Dude, you should be more tactful when responding. I applaud you for wanting to be a bladesmith and if you live closer I would invite you to my shop. My last student GrassHoppa (18 years old) is allot more respectful. Oh!! He also knows if he would piss me off he would get a kick in the butt with my size 12's.

Okay elvenbladesmith07, no one wants to go around hurting anyone else's feelings. We're a community, not a family. :D You've done your part in being forthright and in using reguar English so as far as I'm concerned we're back on even ground. You've made a good case for yourself, so welcome.

I think your interest in historical blades is a good thing. No art is created in a vacuum; knifemaking, like any other creative endeavor, has many influences. Many beautiful blades have historical influences without being historically accurate; I saw many such in Sean's knife. I didn't care that any of them were specifically accurate; I cared that they struck that chord of recognition in me.

But here's something else to think about: today's knifemakers are making history. We're living in a the time of the greatest knifemaking ever. No maker should be held to some arbitrary historical standard unless he's chosen it for himself. Because of your comment, Sean has adjusted his approach to this work. What a man! Because he was able to take your idea at its face value rather than from its delivery, he's gained something useful to his project. That's a great thing, and and it's the way our community works at its best.

Thanks for using English and thanks for being straightforward. There's no better way to show your respect for what's gone before than that. Keep it up. Personally I like your attitude about making and I'm looking forward to seeing what you do.

:D IG, you sound like my own grandfather! :D It may not always have been particularly comfortable but I sure learned a lot from that irascible bastard. :D His garage always smelled like blue dye but I never knew what it was until I started using the stuff myself. I wonder what else he could have taught me? Too often we realize what we've missed, too late.

Yeah, now that i really look over what i said, i was being a smart a$$! Sorry about that.
Ok, now that over we can go back to how good the knife looks:):)

Now you've got a nickname elvenbladesmith07, better start saving up for a plane ticket to one of IG's hot steel and hot sauce weekends... :D

I gotta say (I've been saving this up all day), if I lived in that "NECKA the woods" I'd be all over it.

Sorry. I had to. :D

Sorry to be late on this but..... Thats one sweet blade   I wish I could make somethig like that :(. Great work :D :D

I think in the interest of historical accuracy you need to thoroughly research your work. These fellows seem to have a handle on it. :D
